The continental governing body has informed the Nigeria Football Federation that the stadium has been barred from hosting any more matches unless changes are made to the facility.

The Super Eagles will play one leg of the Qatar 2022 World Cup qualifying playoff in March in Nigeria.

One of the major areas that must be upgraded, according to CAF, is the playing surface.

CAF says the overall pitch condition must be improved, the surface levelled, and clearly marked in green and white.

The body also recommended that the stadium should consider installing a new natural grass pitch, as the current surface ‘is made up of many grass species and others are just weeds. It also has
many small patches’.

CAF also ordered for improvements in the floodlights and the technical benches where coaches and substitute players sit during games.

If the Lagos State government cannot implement the changes before CAF’s next inspection in February, the Super Eagles have several other options.
