Hey guys, I went for my visa interview last week Saturday and I got denied VO: Pass your passport and I-20 What are you going to the US to do? ME: I’m going to the US for my bachelor’s degree in Applied biochemistry and molecular biology at the University of Wisconsin Stout. VO: Who is Idika? (He is my sponsor and uncle but doesn’t have the same surname with my dad) ME: He is my uncle VO: What does he do? ME: He is an importer. He imports 3D roofing sheets and luxury building materials and news prints from different countries and distributes to top real estate and newspaper companies in Nigeria. VO: Okay, why doesn’t he have the same surname with your dad? ME: He is my dad’s step brother, they don’t have the same father. VO: How many children does he have? ME: Three children ( mentions their names) VO: How old are they? ME: 18, 15 and 5 VO: Is the first one in university? ME: No VO: Why? ME: He decided to take a gap year. VO: Okay, what university does he plan on going to? ( I was so scared because I didn’t prepare for all these questions so I had to think fast) ME: University of Lagos VO: Why does his father want to sponsor you to go abroad and then leave his son to study in Nigeria? ME: That was his personal decision. He said he isn’t ready to leave the country yet. VO: How much does your sponsor earn monthly or yearly? ( I don’t even know how much my own father’s income is) ME: 7 to 10 million (I guessed) VO: That’s a huge amount of money...I can see this is his investment company....so how much is his out of this particular amount? (I wanted to faint) ME: About 7 million VO: Pass your bank statement (I pass the bank statement....it had about $34k as the closing balance......I actually had 2 bank statements from the same person) VO: How come he wants to use 1/3 of his income to pay for just a year of your fees? ( my school fees was $22,825) ME: (I just had to say something) Well money keeps coming in VO: Sorry you are ineligible for blah blah blah ( I was like...oh well) So now....my resumption date for school is January 18...can I reapply before that time? And also can I change my sponsor? My new sponsor has trained all his children abroad so is it better? Someone said I have to wait till august or so before I can reapply because that’s when the next semester begins. Please help me I’m confused I’m just 17 |

Try with your new sponsor.. I think you have a better chance with him. Next time just try and be confident and prepare very well for the interview and I believe they'll grant you the visa |

You can re-apply for Summer or Fall 2022 intake your sevis fee payment is still valid for a year. You can change your sponsor to Parent, it really helps and let their bank statement balance huge to boost your chance. I wish you good luck in your next Application. |
