The Esama Ekpeye Logbo and former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt Hon Chibudom Nwuche has described sport as veritable tool for unity and youth physical,mental and social development.

Nwuche stated this when he kicked off the opening ceremony of Ekpeye unity cup competition organised by Ekpeye Youth Congress EYC Worldwide, the apex youth body in Ekpeye land

The event took place on Saturday December 4, 2021 at Government Primary School, Ahoada in Ahoada East LGA of Rivers State.

The Esama Ekpeye Logbo who gave material support for the competition, called on the youths to shun acts capable of causing disaffection in the system and engage in meaningful ventures.

Rt. Hon. Prince Chibudom Nwuche (OFR), encouraged sporting activity for the purpose of promoting peace, unity and security of the area.He urged the youths to shun cultism,kidnapping, pipe line vandalisation and orher vices.

He used the occasion to commend governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike for developing Ekpeye land through construction of numerous projects such as the ongoing dualization of Ahoada- Omoku road, Rivers State University Faculty building at Ahoada and Odioku internal road network which according to him are eloquent testimonies of the Governor's love for the Ekpeye people.

The Special Guest of Honour called on the people of Ekpeye to unite and support the governor's good governance for the betterment of the area.

Rt. Hon. Chibudom Nwuche described the governor's leadership style as very exemplary stressing that with Rivers State turning into construction site, Rivers people need more of his services in his future aspirations.

Also speaking, the Chairman of Ahoada East LGA, Hon. Ben Eke and the Chairman of the occasion, Hon. Chigbo Sam Eligwe PhD commended the leadership of Ekpeye Youth Congress for the good initiative aimed at uniting the youths of Ekpeye and harnessing their potentials for future endeavours.

They made their financial commitment towards the success of the programme and called on them to remain committed to peace building so that the society will be better for it.

In the opening ceremony Igwa Community Football Club from Igbu Ehuda Kingdom defeated Ogbo Community Football Club from Igbu Akoh Kingdom by 3 goals to 1
