The World Health Organisation (WHO) says 29 of the 85 countries that were malaria-endemic accounted for about 96% of malaria cases and deaths globally while Nigeria accounted for 27% of deaths.

The organisation disclosed this in its 2020 World Malaria report released on Monday.

“About 96% of malaria deaths globally were in 29 countries. Six countries – Nigeria (27%), the Democratic Republic of the Congo (12%), Uganda (5%), Mozambique (4%), Angola (3%), and Burkina Faso (3%) – accounted for just over half of all malaria deaths globally in 2020.

In the data provided, the WHO noted that while Africa had a total of 602,000 deaths out of the estimated 627,000, Nigeria accounted for 31.9 per cent of the malaria deaths on the planet, which was followed closely by the Democratic Republic of Congo with 13.2 percent.

It also added that Sub-Saharan Africa had the heaviest malaria burden, accounting for about 95% of all malaria cases and 96% of all deaths in 2020. About 80% of deaths in the region are among children under 5 years of age.

Commenting on the report, the Head, Global Malaria Programme, WHO, Dr Pedro Alonso, said there was a potential malaria crisis.[quote]

The mosquitoes in Africa ain't smiling most especially over here in the western part of Africa. But if they were adequate provision of mosquito nets this figures or percentages would have reduced. One person sat on the money for the purchase of mosquito nets, and I hope he or she should be happy seeing the numbers of persons he or she have cut short their lives.

The leaders don't care cause malaria is not a communicable disease.

Malaria kill Nigerians twice more than Covid but don't receive half of the attention our government gives to covid.

We've always been like this....
Gutter everywhere!
We are too dirty and the leaders are not responsible....

Yes, it will happen because the persons in charge are not responsible, ordinary sanitation once in a week doesn't have any impact.

Dirty environment is a big factor in the prevalence of malaria, and many Nigerians are very dirty.

That's the only thing Nigeria is good at. Everything negative Nigeria will carry first.

Shouting mosquito nets up and down as if mosquitoes bite only when u are in bed or as if one will be wearing mosquito nets everywhere he's going.

Encourage a clean environment and mosquitoes will be extinct,. it's not rocket science but of course people must cash out na.

That is about 100,000 death in one year. Coronavirus has killed less than 3,000 and they won't let us rest with their propaganda with the plandemic. Get vaccine for malaria that is Africa virus not for the disease that kills the white and you want to force it on us.

Re: Nigeria Accounts For 27% Of Global Malaria Deaths – World Health Organisation by Mide1data: 7:33am On Dec 08, 2021
HOLY SHIT

27%? Well the mosquito net is very good, kudos to the government 4 dat. But citizens won't use them because of too much heat. Even world bank has said that producing 24 hrs light will go a long way in helping our economy, but in 9ja we have never experienced 24 hrs light.
Also most Nigerians are dirty citizens, that environment(I don't even know the name) that is going on is not even active. Everybody just close their shops without doing anytin. The police will just be looking 4 some1 to arrest so as 2 cash out. They don't care if you clean the environment or not.
So am not surprised, I was even expecting 45%, coz most people don't go to the hospital. They just buy Paracetamol and use it. Those people aren't recorded in the data.
It is left to the state governor to make sure people clean their environment, and citizens to do the needful.
Like if you agree.
