Many societies around d world in d days of Paganism, were loosely matriarchal. Many ancient Yoruba rulers were female including the founder/progeneitor of d Yorubas and der first recorded ancestor, Oduduwa. Even d Woodabes, a Pagan section of d Fulanis, respect der women-folk aa lot unlike der islamic brethren in d cities. These Woodabe Fulanis r poor and nomadic but have aa pure heart and der women r much freer and r allowed to choose der husbands or even divorce dem! Its d same with ppl from my tribe, d Hausa-Maguzawa who r aa Pagan section of d Hausas. Our women sometimes even head our tribes and r much free eventhough most of our ppl r rather poor because of constant abuse by d islamic hausa n christian missionaries who kip fightin oer your lyk aa piece of meet contested by hungry dogs.
