FACT CHECK: Is Lion The King Of The Jungle? by ify01: 12:46pm On Dec 08, 2021

The Lion being the king of the Jungle is a western misconception.

According to African tradition and folklore, the lion isn't and has never been the king of the Jungle... The King of the Jungle is the Leopard! The lion doesn't even live in the jungle or rainforests. The lion lives in Savannah. Our traditional costumes like the ones in the second picture is that of a leopard.

The Isi agu attire of the Igbos is the leopard. For the Igbos, Odum is Lion while Agu is the Leopard. Agu holds a far more spiritual significance than Odum. Powerful men are usually referred to as Agu (Leopard), not Odum. For the Yorubas, Amotekun is the leopard, Kiniun is lion. Amotekun holds a far more spiritual significance in Yoruba Cosmology than Kiniun. For the Zulus, Ingwe is the leopard. Lion is ingonyama. Ingwe (The leopard) has more spiritual significance for the Zulus than the lion. Across Africa, the belief is the same! How can an animal that doesn't even live in the Jungle be the King of the Jungle?

Just another example of how western misconceptions and false narratives are portrayed as the truth.

This statement is relative to the ethnic group which believe in such. Lion commands bravery in Yoruba folklore as Leopard as well as cheetahbut not the king of animal in Yoruba folklore. Elephant is the king of Land animal in Yoruba folklore.

Lion is the king of all animals. Jesus is refered as The Lion of the tribe of Judah. The lion is more significant than Leopard, even the Bible.

There are no lions in the jungle. Igbos, yorubas and other jungle tribes know only one big cat - the leopard. Normally, I guess the names for the lion is a fairly new invention. This thread isn't bad considering the rate of miseducation pervading the society. For example(on a sad note) one of the commenters above mentioned tiger to represent 'agu'. Tiger is a creature which I don't even think has a name in any language in the african continent. Agu is the king of animals in our jungle, maybe further south to central africa the gorillas might stand as a chief adversary.

So your own Jesus drinks or licks blood grin cheesy grin ? I hope one day some of guys will realise, those Europeans who wrongfully documented some false information on this Jesus shall be corrected, so that some of you people will stop behaving as programmed humanbeings.

Perhaps, can you post any classic visual Art
where lion was referenced by the Hebrew from time immemorial.

Furthermore,a male lion is a selfish gay with non caring characteristic towards its cubs and kills other cubs which aren't its own. Is this who your own falsely documented Jesus personality resembles ? It is better you learn more and stop making unnecessary point where such exists not.
