Plans to disrupt the current efforts in tackling banditry in Zamfara and Kebbi states have been uncovered.

A source from within the leadership of the outlawed Yan sakai accused of fuelling the crisis of armed banditry in the Northwest region of Nigeria, told this medium that at a secret meeting with some leaders of the outlawed Yan sakai (vigilante groups), former Zamfara Governor Abdulaziz Yari said he has increased the salaries he was paying the Yan sakai to destabilise any efforts in dealing with banditry.

In the secret meeting which he held with the leadership of the outlawed vigilante groups in Birnin Kebbi, the Kebbi state capital, Abdulaziz Yari told the leaders of the outlawed Yan Sakai ( vigilante groups) from both Zamfara and Kebbi states that he would be paying them Twenty Thousand Naira( #20,000) instead of the Fifteen Thousand Naira(15,000) he was paying them when he was Gov.

In addition to the increase in salary, Yari also promised giving them motorbikes to facilitate their activities in the two states.

The souce further revealed that the former Governor also sent a delegation to the Chairman of Kebbi state vigilante groups retired Major General Ishaya Bamaiyi.

According to our source "the former Governor also sent the sum of Three Million Naira (3,000,000) to one Alh Auta, one of those assisting the two states in dealing with the crisis, pleading for him to stop any assistance to Zamfara government in its efforts to tackle banditry in the state."

However, according to our sources, the money was rejected by Alh Auta.

The highlight of the meeting according to our sources, is to ensure total disruption of the efforts being made in curtailing banditry in Zamfara state, as well as sabotaging the current measures by Zamfara government to tackle the crisis.

Others include massive attacks on innocent fulani settlements to cause backlash from bandits in attacking innocent communities in the two states.

The project also includes the use of the Yan sakai as thugs during the 2023 elections in the two states.
