Faiq Bolkiah, who is regarded as the richest football player in the world has been released by club side, Maritimo, without ever making an appearance.

Faiq Bolkiah, who comes from the ruling family in the Sultanate of Brunei and is considered the richest football player in the world, has left Maritimo in the last hours, the club have announced.

The midfielder only came to the Portuguese club a year and a half ago, but now departs without ever participating even once in the Portuguese first division.

The 23-year-old arrived in Funchal, Portugal in the summer of 2020, after leaving Leicester City in search of an opportunity to participate, because he also failed to appear even once in the English Premier League.

He also did not achieve his goals at that modest club, where his greatest achievement last season was that he sat on the bench during the team’s match against Sporting in February 2021.
