Jude Eze, a tailor, was allegedly murdered in his hometown, Akpa Edem, Nsukka Local Government Area on the suspicion that he practiced witchcraft and therefore, was said to be responsible for the sudden strange deaths occurring in his village over the years.

Daily Sun gathered that the nursing mother (name withheld) after having a handshake with the deceased reported to her husband and a priest that she had observed strange things in her body saying since “I had handshake with that man I don’t know how I am feeling.”

The priest, according to a source, advised her to go back to the man to inform him of her experience after having a handshake with him. The woman after carrying out the advice of the cleric felt no better.

Daily Sun learnt that the deceased’s wife who was eavesdropping to the woman’s complaint was peeved and immediately raised the alarm apparently to dissociate herself from the evil plan.

The alarm, according to a source, attracted villagers to the scene who later lynched him (Eze).

When Daily Sun contacted Nsukka police station to confirm the incident, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Mr. Jacob Muri, said a nursing mother was being held with another villager in connection with the murder of Mr. Eze.

When asked why the suspect’s baby, who less than three-month-old child, should be held in police custody, the officer said: “This is a case of murder, whether nursing mother or no nursing mother, she is being held for a grievous offence. Your suggestion that the suspect be kept behind the counter because of her little child depends on my discretion. However, we shall make arrangement for relatives of the woman to come and take the child.”

The DPO said investigation into the murder would commence in earnest and that they would leave no stone unturned.
