Many people would not waste any second to ridicule the Nigerian military but then I'm not saying the Military doesn't have a very terrible side but some things are just not always as we make it seem.

First nobody had ever stopped female or male soldiers from falling in love, but if you must do that while on duty, you must be discreet, We are all humans afterall but when you chose to sign up for the service, you MUST at least pretend to abide by its terms.

Proposing while on duty of youth corps orientation camp is tantamount to a secondary school teacher proposing to a girlfriend while on school uniform or let's even look at a university, I don't think it is the best attitude for a lecturer to propose to a student while in lecture room.

Life in Military is strange, the military is not quite different from other fields, is it proper for a medical doctor to propose to his patients in the theater (emergency unit?), or for a lawyer to propose to his clients in court?,

In this regards the youth corper is the responsibility of the soldier and no matter how innocent it may seem it seems exploitative and while this fellow could be innocent it does not mean others would and tolerating it today means allowing it tomorrow that's terrible.

In every baracks, in every other fields of human endeavor the walls have more secrets than anything else, soldiers are smooching, bleeping and sleeping around but secret is more important than errors, as far as you can hide it, you can get out of it, she didn't just do it she blew it that's the issue here any other field not just Military could have frowned at that.

The other angle of desperation and carelessness nobody is talking about: Oriented camps usually last for less than a month, is that enough time for two people from different walks of life to meet and get deep up to the point that they feel is a right decision to spend the rest of their lives together, perhaps she was not a soldier and you as a parent log on to facebook seeing your son whom you sent through school and then up to the point he goes to service proposing to a woman he just met few days ago in a volatile place like orientation camp and he had even proposed without bringing her home for once, does it not seem so careless.

We had gotten so bitter with the Military that everything they do would attract our wrath but the earlier we understand that we are all together in this and that putting on tough guy face and wearing a camouflage does not make Military guys quite different from everyone else, if a university penalised a lecturer for proposing to a student in class now, we could have not reacted same way we are reacting with the Military.

Majority of us have real beef with the Military but always remember that the Nigerian military is an embodiment of everything Nigeria, Biafrans, Arewans, Oduduwans and Valued Minorities are there, let our desire not make us demonize the military for any slightest issue, if not for anything, the Biafran soldiers in the Nigerian army had been fine gentlemen and woman, I'm not trying a divisive stunt on the Military but before you ridicule me from that voice in your head, know it that I'm from the Biafran region of Nigeria.

And all those several male soldiers that proposed to civilians why weren't they arrested. Cos I don't see any difference. Civilian is civilian whether corper or anybody else.

Proposal is not the problem, it is where, when and how that's the problem, if the soldier is on check point and propose to a girl whose train broke down on transit it is wrong, if he proposed to a long time girlfriend it is understandable the youth corps are on transit

The young man would be fine, he only needs to assure that he was not coerced, if he is going to be quizzed along with the woman, he only needs be supportive, it is what the lady signed up for, it is a test of their love anyway, he is the victim but both parties acted in love and carelessness, worry more about what the young man's mother would do to him, lol

The price we pay for love is what makes it all interesting, once she serves her punishment she would be fine, love controversy is always popular everywhere else not just in Nigeria especially in the era of social media,

Romance poems, books, movies and more still sell, our mind had been programmed from earlier on to ascribe loads of values to romantic trails this is one of it and everyone is curious but not withstanding supporting the lovebirds is the instincts way as we are poised to favour the lovers,

The public is more interested in the romance and then some to wrath the Military but the Military is more interested in the integrity of the institution, there is corruption yes but ability to conceal matters a lot.

This is where feminists are needed.
Loud it on TV,social media, extract pictures of male soldiers doing so, loud it so the international communities will her. The international media love this kind if drama.

But you won't see any of them simply because they don't know what feminism is all about.

The control and freedom females from other countries especially the West enjoys started with things like this and gained momentum. What we now witness is the fruit of their labour.
Nigeria don't have feminists yet.
The women of old were more outspoken than what we have here.

Human's generally don't seem to like the progress of their kind and women takes it to a whole new level, you won't see them being feminist when the woman is happy but let's say the said lady was raped now, boom they would start that's becuase it appealed to their complex of damages and hurt, having said that this is not quite an issue of feminism
