Bandits issue Monday ultimatum to seven Zamfara communities to pay ransom of N37m or face consequences

Bandits terriozing residents of Zamfara State has issued a Monday ultimatum to seven communities in Tsafe Local government area of the state to pay a sum of N37 million as ransom or it launch attack in the areas

The communities include Bawagauga, Hayin Uda, Ruguza, Dumuyu, Zigau, Mai-Rerai and Gidan Kado.

A reliable source in the area who confirmed this to development said the bandits shared the amount (N37 million) among the communities.

The source said the bandits demanded that residents in Bawagauga pay N13 million, Hayin Uda to pay N7 million, Gidan Kado to pay N6 million and Mai-Rerai to pay N4 million while Ruguza, Dumuyu and Zigau were to pay N2 million each.

The source also revealed that the bandit leader identified as Hassan Bamamu has sometimes ago signed a peace pact with the government of Zamfara State and pledged to desist from banditry activities.

The source further said that it has already alerted the security authorities about the ultimatum for swift intervention.

It was gathered that all the communities are about 25km away from Tsafe Local government headquarters.

Meanwhile, efforts to get the spokesman of the Zamfara State Police Command, SP Mohammed Shehu confirm if it is aware of the ultimatum and measures being put in place to secure the communities proved abortive as he didn’t respond to either text or WhatsApp messages and phone calls put across to his mobile phone.

It's better they are paid the money

Instead of losing human lives

But FIRS should first deduct Tax

If bandit activities is well regulated, Nigeria can raise money from it to pay salaries instead of borrowing

NASS should create a bandits ministry immediately and make Gumi the minister

No cause for alarm really

According to Lai Mohammed, bandits imposing taxes and levies are not different from area boys in many parts of the country, including in the South where touts commonly referred to as ‘area boys’, impose levies.

There’s a lot of terrorist activities going on in the north but they won’t reveal all

One of the bandits leaders that wrote letters to its states said they were not reporting most of their hit activities.

Even the military won't be able to clear them easily.

Banditry in Nigeria now is more than a mere crime. It is now an ideology.

Arewa Business men

The real owners of northern Nigeria wants to collect their own New year Bonanza from their subjects.

I wonder how govt that fished out Gana of Benue and killed himz arrested Kanu in Kenya and even collaborated in the arrest of Igboho in Benin Republic and some of his aids in Oyo just because they posed a threat to the govt has failled to arrest and kill these ragtag bandits in North. If you talk now the same elite northerners will defend the babdits

Well, the people should pay up cos their brothers in govt has abandoned them.
