Niger, Chad, Ghana, Cameroon sell a litre for more than 400. Smugglers will continue to take our subsidized products accross the borders to sell for 300% profit.

Which investor will invest in a sector where government determine the profit margin?

Whether NLC like it or not, subsidy must go this 2022.

We don't need to subsidize in the first place if Nigeria refined her petroleum products locally

They better not try remove it, if not the nation will turn into crisis. Have they ever tink what will be the outcome of the economy if they removed subsidy?

Are we benefitting from the subsidy? The people benefitting from the subsidy are the ones pushing NLC.

The Nigerian government is a joke. That a country humanly and resourcefully endowed still imports refined petroleum products beats every logic. NLC, pls let's be serious this time. Enough is enough. They can borrow from China to build rails but can't borrow to build refineries. Who are they fooling?

you people with this pro-subsidy removal argument often think you know better than others.

Which country in the world sells a commodity they produce locally at an international market determined price? If a bag of Taiwanese rice is sold for #7000 in Nigeria, are you telling me that same rice will be sold in Taiwan for #7000?

Whr is the economic strength of absolute and comparative advantages coming into play? Only in Nigeria do things go awkward. Tell ur failed leaders to fix our refineries or borrow same money used to build rails to build refineries.

Subsidy must be removed even if our refineries are fixed, for market forces to determine the price, and to stop smuggling our cheap, subsidized fuel to other countries by marketers. Subsidy benefits very few, and those are the ones pushing NLC to strike. I enjoy fuel now than when it was N87, because there is no more hoarding and no scarcity.

Niger and Ghana are oil producers, yet, their pump prices are higher than ours.

What we have now are corrupt, hungry men and women who seek satisfaction of selfish, personal interests at the expense of the suffering masses ! NLC is a scam that has outlived its relevance !

By the time federal and state goverments cannot pay salaries as a result of subsidy, everyone will come to their senses.

I have to quote you cos I know some people carry this opinion as well in favour of so called "subsidy removal". How much was a litre in the countries you mentioned when fuel in Nigeria was N65, N85, N97, N125... ?

Increase fuel price to N500/Litre in Nigeria and it will simply get to equivalent N1000 / N1500 per litre in those countries... and then we start another round of saying "fuel price is higher in neighbouring countries" to justify another increase.

Solution: We have no business importing refined petroleum products. Fix the damn refineries and
in addition, make the so called "illegal refineries" legal by infusing technical know-how to modernize the practice.

leave those dudes.
