Welcome to 2022. This APC government of Gen Muhammadu Buhari has only 17months to expire. With the next general elections expected to be held at least 120 days before May 29, 2023 hand-over date, we actually have 12 months left before we are voting for a new president. There has also been the clamor for a Southern president, unfortunately, the Southerners are just making noise on Social media while the North is building capacity. The South is all over Social Media permutating on who becomes the next president without making any effort to put themselves in a position to take over. For example, the North still holds the largest voting power. This is so not necessarily because the North has a higher population, but because the South usually shows apathy to elections matters. Interestingly. it is only in Nigeria that the Sahel savannah has more population than the rainforest belt. To make matters worse the average Southerner would not even bother to register for elections, only on Social media arguing and permutating on how parties would perform. Even down South, the South Easterners and their South-South folks are worse off.
Take the case of Kano, Jigawa and Bornu. In these states, you would see a ten-year-old with a voter card, but go to the Eastern states, most adults do not register to vote, yet we clamor for Southern president and even push for micro-zoning of Nigeria presidency. Average Igboman does not bother about registering, if he does, he will not go and collect the voter's card until the week of elections. this is the very reason that the southeast has the least voting population. There is no town or city you will not find an Igbo person, but they have no voice in determining who lead them because of this apathy, instead of Ohaneze to focus on this, they are pre-occupied with making headlines with Kanu release or threatening Nigeria with one form of war or another. Igbos do not bother to register for elections. I have two Igbo tenants, one of who has 5 young boys serving him, and his wife. He himself, his wife, and his wife's sister that stays with them do not have voter's cards. The same applies to the 5 boys that go to his shop. That family alone has 8 unregistered voters. This is very common amongst them across Lagos. To take time to go and register is a problem for them. Most of the people you see running after cars and trailers on the highway are Igbos and most cannot vote because they do not have voter's cards. Let the Igbos especially mandate all their unions in various towns and cities to ostracise any member not able to show evidence of registration as voters. I believe that if all Igbos put their hoises to order and mandate their people to go and register, the Igbos can muster about 10 million votes. You cannot achieve the presidency by just being an onlooker or wishing others will award you the presidency on a platter, you got to work for it.
The South-South, especially those in the riverine areas are not even better. Only the South Westerners seem to be better off when it comes to voting strengths. Not surprising though, because they have been conscious of the need to vote even from the time of Obafemi Awolowo.

My personal opinion please, kindly respect it. I am open to healthy discussion on this.!

Voter's statistics and information from Anambra State Election shows youth are quite unserious

Elderly women and men came out to vote for 2 days and protected Soludo their son, even when they where offered 5000 each, foodstuff and Ankara materials which they rejected..

Channels TV went around filming and the youth where all around in groups playing street soccer or having canival and picnics

In the end, Out. Of 100% of registered voters, 10% came out to vote, 90% stayed back giving cheap excuses

After the re-run election, and Soludo managed to win, the same youth turned up from no where to celebrate and party with Charles Soludo, forgetting the women and elders did the job

I agree with op on this. Average Igboman do not evrn bother to vote. At the bolded, simply do your own first. What if your preferred candidate wins the primaries and you do not have the card to vote, who loses? This was the same narratives by democrats in 2016 that the Republican shocked them with Donald Trump.
