What is our government doing about the airport tips. It is now a culture that once you want to cross MMA, almost all the checkpoint security officers will be asking you for a tip. Does it mean that our government has not notice such a thing or is our government in support of it.

Guys please if you have access to Godluck or any government officials contact(be it their facebook, email, or phone), bomber them with these issue.

The same thing happens at Port Harcourt Int'l as well, and i guess all International Airports in Nigeria.

But let's not be so quick to judge and condemn them as we all know the kind of poor pay they get. If they're good natured and friendly, i don't mind giving them something and that's why i always have some lower denominations of pounds or dollars when i arrive.

Can anyone of us say in all honesty, with hand on heart that we wouldn't ask "Oga/Madam, wetin you bring come" if we were in their shoes? The key thing is manner of approach and choosing the right time/situation: you don't go asking for egunje if you notice the customer you're attending to is pissed-off over something or doesn't look friendly.

That's just my take on it. smiley

Nigeria, the only country I am aware of where citizens have to pay bribes/tips for services that we are legally entitled to. Absolutely disgusting. I've been to countries all over the world (including poor ones) and never experienced it, but some of us will continuously make excuses. They even do it whilst in view of CCTV.

The joke is that if you're a big boy you don't have to go through all of that because when you're escorted it renders you unapproachable.
