¹ Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil.

² And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred.

³ And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.

⁴ But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.


The vital secret of the power of God in Jesus's life and ministry was that He lived mostly by God's Word.

Neither have I gone back from the commandment of his lips; I have esteemed the words of his mouth more than my necessary food.
— Job 23:12

Jesus lived supernaturally by feeding mostly on God's Word than on physical food. The word of God is our spiritual food and it empowers us spiritually to do exploits like God Himself.

When we live by God's Word, we will be empowered spiritually to be more like Jesus.

The word of God is POWERFUL. Outside God's Word, there is no power. Any powerful ministry or minister lives more on God's Word than on physical food. And this is only possible when we fast. When we fast and feed on God's Word, we are increasing in spiritual power and strength.

When we eat physically, we are spiritually weakened, but when we eat spiritually, we are empowered spiritually. This is why when we fast, we are to increase our spiritual power and might by feeding on God's Word.

When Jesus fasted for 40 days, He lived by God's Word.

When He came out of the fast, He was empowered by God's Word to do great miracles which we still read today in the gospels.

In this fasting periods, we need to create more time to read and study our Bibles before praying or praising to generate more spiritual power.

God strengthen us these fasting days in Jesus's name.
