Hon Musa Nuhu: Changing the Narrative of Representative Democracy.

Partisan politics had circumvent core mandate which rightly should define what the concept of politics should be. Most often than not, mainstream politics is alternated and traded off with people-centered policies, in a representative democracy.

More so, the very ocncept of representative democracy is hinged on some 5 pillars which includes, proper representation, adequate advocacy, cognitive developmental policies, engagement and fiscal policy.
Once these threshold are met, democratic dividends are justifiably attained, because public service is a trust, between elected officials and constituents. Where there are no formal written agreement, the bond is unmistakably glaring.

In this part of the world, what played out is the reverse of what the book says. Our democratc experience and representative democracy is shallow. We copy the cosmetics of America's model of democracy, leaving out the core aspect which drives rapid development.
Although, we could make a case for our young democracy, which is being nutured, and still evolving.

Political actors, whom are rapidly catching up with the trend, by bringing unprecedented development to their constituents are quite few. Understanding the cardinal objective and workings of representative democracy is very crucial in governance.

In Katsina State, a crop of ardent grassroot and energetic political actors has emerged, since the return of democracy in 1999. One of those leading the charge is Hon. Nuhu Musa Abdullahi Gafiya, Member representing Kaita Local government.

Hon Musa has always been a grassroot man, in tune with the electorates and his constituents. He had definitively mastered the art of representative democracy both in practice and in context.
He was Chairman, Kaita Local government, where he performed exceedingly well, bringing some legacy project to his constituents, some of which are still in use presently.
His passion and pedigree are unmatched. These unparalleled and unique attributes of his were to propel him to deliver more, as his constituents urged him to contest the State assembly elections which he won.

As member representing Kaita, he is in a familiar terrain, he only continued where he stopped, as he does task which ordinarily should be the call of Senators or Federal House of Reps members. He brought more developmental projects with direct bearing on his constituents. He specifically targeted key areas like Education, Health, economic empowerment and security. Provision of school and developing healthy care centers were central to his policies.

Hon Musa held various strategic Committees at the House, the most significant was the Child Protection Bill, 2020. As Chair of that Committee, he fine-tuned major aspects of the Bill, which stalled its adoption since the administration of Late Umaru Musa Yar'adua, when he was Governor.

Unassuming, with an unblemished pedigree, Hon Musa stand out as a Man who knows his job, and is not afraid to get it done, as long as it affects the development of his constituents. A charitable technocrat, he understands the dynamics of governance at all levels.

Such a fine gentleman is needed in higher places -- Senator, Fed House of Reps, or even Governor, that way, he'll keep developing impactful and landmark policies which would positively changed the society.
