A true story of Kennedy Friday
.
.
I needed a little cash in my pocket today so I pulled over at a POS kiosk. A man who looked to be in his late fifties was the owner and operators of the POS business. He said he was an Igbo man from Imo state when I asked which state he was from.

I was in a hurry, but just by the side of the POS kiosk was a phone accessories shop so I also decided to get an iPhone charger since I needed it.

While I was selecting the kind of charger I actually needed I told the POS operator to give me N40,000 cash and include his service charge. He said his service charge was N800 & I did not object.

While my card was in the machine & debit was being processed after I had pointed my pin on the button of the machine, the man counted N40,000 cash & gave to me. I collected & pocketed without counting.

Processing over and transaction approved, he issued me the print out receipt which I threw to the ground without looking at.
I picked an iPhone charger & paid cash to the accessories dealers from the money the POS operator paid me, and walked into my car to zoom away.

A still small voice told me to look at the debit alert on my phone, so I disengaged my gear to look at the alert.
Lo & Behold, the alert I got from my bank was N4,800 instead of N40,800 from the POS transaction.
I looked more closely the second time just to be absolutely sure, & saw that indeed the debit alert was N4,800.

I looked at the POS man from the tinted glass of my car. A man in his late fifties, you could tell that he was trying to battle to stay afloat on the turbulent waters of life.
His countenance said it all. He had just mistakenly "dashed"

me N35,200 of his sweat, perhaps, almost all his capital for his POS business.
If I drove off, he will go back home to his family, & after trying to reconcile his account for the day's business, there will be festival of tears & anguish up in realizing the shortfall. The misery would last for weeks.

In my cars, tears were already welling in my eyes as I peeped at the man. In this extremely hard economy in which we operate, a struggling man has just done himself in.
I wiped off the tears from my eyes & alighted from the car with my key on ignition. I moved to the kiosk.

"Oga make I do another one." he said, enthusiastically. I shook my head without uttering a word, reached to the ATM in my pocket & gave to him.
"Please collect N35,200 from this ATM.", I said. " Should I include my charge", he bellowed. "Just do as I said", I insisted.
Transaction done, he wanted to count money to pay me.

And I said, "Sir. its your money. You overpaid me by N35,200 from the first transaction. It's actually your own mistakes."
Abruptly, the man fell down & held my feet, crying real heavy tears & mumbling blessings on me.
I lifted him up, hopped into my car & I was gone!

A little honest here & there, and the world can actually be a better place for all.

It takes a lot to be honest in this difficult economy.

This act here deserves commendation because 35k will be a lifeline for most people.

The situation of the country has made villians out of good men.

The quest for daily survival has made many damn their conscience for crumbs while they cry in the night regretting their actions in the day. cry

Good men abound just that 'the world is too much with us'

And sometimes' the centre cannot hold'.

Nevertheless may we always have the will to take what truly belongs to us.

Truly, there are still good people who don't even have that much but will still return the money.

As a filling station supervisor then, mistakes like this occur on a regular by attendants especially during rush hours, some will punch lesser amount on the POS than they bought and won't return the money while some will, and some will be overcharged and most will come back to claim that they were robbed intentionally. Some attendants will even sell when it's declined but due to rush will assume it was approved and many will never return it.

Damnnn niggar

Nobody should praise the man. He ain't no good man...hasty conclusion dogg shit
...because he returned the money doesn't mean he is a Saint....him big pass 40,000 naira ....na im make he returned am....40,000 is irrelevant and will not add any meaning to his life....if it was like 50 million...him for nor return am

Secondly....the pos operator na thief...for him to charge am 800 for 40,000

The charge is not supposed to be up to 800 for 40,000

objohn:

That's the charge for 40k
10k is 200 naira ,20k is 400naira
Hmmmm...okay o....but I collect 60,000 today...and i was charged 500....even the pos operator was willing to do it for me for 400 niara

This man is one of the few Nigerians with conscience. Majority of Nigerians would have drove off with the money and their conscience will not prick them.

Majority of Nigerians don't have conscience that will prick them when they do evil.
This is why the Bible says the heart of a black man is desperately wicked.

Who killed Funsho Williams?

Na question I ask o....I didn't call names.

That is a question for PDP to answer.

If I remember correctly, Seye Ogunlewe who was Minister for Works, and Sen. Musiliu Obanikoro who were both of the PDP were investigated by the police over the murder.

Funso Williams was an aspirant in the then upcoming PDP gubernatorial primary when he was assassinated. Seye Ogunlewe and Misiliu Obanikoro were fellow PDP aspirants for the party's gubernatorial ticket.

Williams' family later moved over to support Tinubu's Action Congress, whose successful candidate, Fashola, later appointed Funso Williams son as an aide, and renamed Western Avenue to Funso Williams Avenue.

It was very typical for political murders to occur in PDP during the period of 1999 to 2007.
