There is currently tension tinged with outrage in the camp of investors and shareholders of Sterling Bank Plc led by Abubakar Suleiman, as the shares of the bank dipped drastically in the 2021 financial year.

If you invested N1 million in the bank’s shares at the beginning of the year 2021, you would have lost N281,000.00 of your investment as the its equity shed 28.10% of its value last year.

This is not a balanced reporting. The whole banking sector declined by 2% in 2021 but for the end of year rally in FBN, ETI and UBN, it would have been a completely disastrous year for the sector.

Fortunately, some of us predicted this as PMB blocks more loopholes for stealing and sustained the trial and subsequent conviction of those thieving bankers.

It is not all gloom, while the banking sector were laggards, food, pharmaceutical and industrial goods sector were returning as high as 300%.
Sincerely, it's unfair to blame the MD of Sterling. However, it's not an excuse for the MD who is not exceptional and the link of the bank to the kogi state funds retrieved by EFCC under his leadership of the bank didn't help the bank.
