Lagos — THE United States of America (USA) has cleared Governor Bola Tinubu of Lagos State of involvement in any criminal activity in that country or its territory.

The US Consulate in Lagos in a February 4, 2003 letter to the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Tafa Balogun said there was nothing in the records of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) indicating that Gov. Tinubu had, at any time in the past, been arrested or wanted for crime in the US.

The letter signed by the Legal Attache in the Consulate, Michael H. Bonner reads: “Our sincerest greetings to you and all of the law enforcement personnel in the Nigeria Police Force, whose continued assistance is very much appreciated.

In relation to your letter, dated February 3, 2003, reference number SR. 3000/IGPSEC/ABJ/VOL. 24/287, regarding Governor Bola Ahmed Tinubu, a records check of the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s (FBI) National Crime Information Centre (NCIC) was conducted.

“The results of the checks were negative for any criminal arrest records, wants, or warrants for Bola Ahmed Tinubu (DOB 29 March 1952).

For information of your department, NCIC is a very centralised information centre that maintains the records of every criminal arrest and conviction within the United States and its territories.”

Funsho Williams provided the financial muscles and marshal his unity group led by Kemi Nelson & others to ensure Tinubu's victory at the poll.

What happened after he became the governor of Lagos is known to all. Among which was his betrayer of Chief Bola Ige in his aspiration for the presidency of Nigeria (the event at De Rovans Hotel in Ibadan is well recorded).
He also made sure he used his influence as the governor to muscle & destroy the Afenifere group; abuse Baba Abraham opening & remove his deputy Akerele Buknor who was a staunch member of Afenifere.

Bola Tinubu also dealt with Funsho Williams, he made sure cornered the loyalty of his (Funsho"s loyalists) & completely sidelined & ostracized him.

Tinubu will surely betray the north.

What's this idiot saying? Funsho Williams participated in the Abacha political transition and he was among those contesting for governor before the demise of Abacha. For that reason alone, there was no way he could win any election in Yorubaland. All the 6 AD govs in 1999 contributed to the June 12 struggle, but Funsho Williams was no where to be found. So, why would the AD leaders compensate such a person with their ticket?

Moreover, you lied many times in your write-up. Tinubu still enjoyed the support of his political associates in the old SDP when he came back from exile. Only a fool will say that someone who was elected a senator in 1992 would not have a political structure to contest for governorship election in 1998. They know he has no criminal case in the USA or any other country, all they are doing with the drug story is just to tarnish his image with lies and propaganda.

America is not like Nigeria where we forget and forgive easily. There was absolutely no way someone criminally convicted or linked with drug pushing would have been employed by some of the best companies in America like Arthur Anderson, Deloitte, GTE and Mobil. It was just impossible.
