Impediments to the rule of law in a nation, is what is often referred to as economic crimes also called financial crimes.

These crimes are illegal acts that causes adverse effects on the economic and social development of a country.

In most cases, these acts are committed when officers are carrying out their legitimate duties. When closely discerned, it's clear that individuals or groups of persons that are committed to carry out diverse economic crimes do so as a means for etra gains.

Criminals focuses more on the financial rewards than the risks involved in the process, especially in situations where poverty is their case or at times were standard of living is high and things becomes more expensive to possess.

Now, let's direct our thoughtful gaze upon the economic crime situations in Nigeria. You would agree with me that corruption in Nigeria grew worse after it gained the independent in the 1960. Eversince then, socioeconomic criminal activities has eaten deep as virus into the very fibre and fabrics of the country's political system; it exerts it influence over public officers on duty; and had since then become the means and very underlying principle upon which the eventually corrupted security system is employed to secure a covering and create a hedge over scio economic criminal agendas.

This makes it possible for trusted leader figures in the political system to carry out very deep and profound criminal activities at the background level, without much public attention.

With all of these being said, let's emphasize on the ways this menace can be reduced in the society. Economic crimes, as common as it is, yet has a secretive nature, which is why perpetrators do keep their records as low as possible. However, with historical records and evidence of adverse and negative effects of economic crimes in the society, let individuals, institutions, government and even third parties be encouraged to searchingly look out for ways of reducing the criminal situations at hand and also regulate the flow of functions in the systems and structures of the nation concerned.

For instance, consider the effect of economic crimes in the lives of youth and children, it has long led to deliquescency. Most of these cases are results of wrong informations and negative influences; also due to lack of proper education and enlightenment where youth and children are concerned.

The youth are exposed to pressures and inherited burdens they really know nothing about, on the other hand all they could really think of at the moment is survival. In situations like underdeveloped nations or nations going through transitional development like Nigeria, crimes rates is on the high side. This is because the kind of fear that roams around the air peirces deep into the heart of men and women, the youth and children and this makes the youth to search out for every possible means and employ every promising method of surviving the difficult and painful situation of the country.

It's not uncommon to see youth and children engage in such activities like:

internet fraud commonly called yahoo;
investment fraud;
mass-marketing fraud;
payment-order fraud;
insurance fraud;
procurement rigging;
loan and mortgage fraud.

Provision of quality education and knowledge will purify their mindset on the idea of survival. This will help reduce economic crimes at a gradual rate.

The obstinate belief system that initially became a stronghold in their mind will eventually loose it grip when the soothing light of knowledge penetrates their mind. This will make our youth to understand inwardly that survival is beyond what their bellies can survive on at the moment, but survival looks out for the progress, the building, the growth, and good maintenance of a nation's economic and political structure. The youth will understand that they need to:
build and not destroy;
bless and not become a curse;
add positively to economic progress and not negatively deterring economic progress.

Such good enlightenment will liberates many minds and then all will know that in building positively, generations yet unborn will prosper and survive on the existing foundation of economic development and growth set by their ancestors.

Secondly, lets consider the public sectors. Men and women in public duties whose mind are corrupted see their various offices and sphere of influence as and advantage to express their inherent traits of craftiness commonly termed wisdom; and both learned and unlearned set of skills and abilities in order to outshine and take advantage of such offices occupied in every possible way.

At every available opportunity they put their so call wisdom and sense into practise to gain more benefits and maximize the use of chances. Just as they said, "practice makes perfection." Corrupt public offficers becomes perfect in carrying out criminal activities to a point they even become so professional as to pass on the knowledge to others.

Taking a little, thoughtful journey into this matter will reveal that the abuse of such offices even when carrying out legitimate duties, in order to engage in any economic crimes, is as a result of the negative examplary lives of the called leaders in the political system.

However, this public officers sees their negative actions as nothing compared to what the leaders are doing and in many cases they are carrying out the commands and instructions of the said political leaders on a basis of bribery, rewards or promises of promotion and top connections.

Inorder for a matter, such as this, be taken care of, political fathers and leader fiqure in the nation concerned, should set things right. This is because, the leaders rule, sets the rules and carries out the judgement, and they will certainly judge perpetrators of the law who commits crimes that is a against the county's economic progress and development.

Economic crime activities often carried out in a political system where leaders are deeply commited to such illegal acts - like the case of Nigeria - might need interventions from higher third parties. This third parties are other countries and international bodies that have experienced a track record of stability, a purer system of operations, and tight security systems that can checkmate imbalances in their system.

With such corrections in a system, a custom officer, will not desire to haul goods knowing the implications he will get himself into.

Also being fully aware of the awaiting consequences of prosecution and imprisonment, promoted officers on duty will not exploit their craftiness on other workers below their social status to gain from salary shortage, bribery for top connections and employment and even cuting down or embezzling project funds, and in many cases they employ low quality services to carry out the projects which they where given the responsibility of surpervision.

That's why in developing and underdeveloped countries, predominant services and productions are of low qualities, such as education, public health services, production of commodities, industrialization etc.

Thirdly, on casting our thoughtful gaze upon the political system of a corrupt nation, we see that predominant political offices are occupied by individuals that are deeply commited to evil and corruption.

Economic crimes commited at this level is a realization of their ambitious desire for power and immense gain. Now, for such political leaders, their emblem is based upon what they can get, not considering the effects of their actions on the masses, the economic growth of the nation, the labour market and the stress that will be placed upon people's lives and health.

For this course, economic crime rate is on a very high side as men and women will be left with no option other than to be deeply involved and commited to crimes and corruption for survial, high status connections, financial gain etc.
For such political system to be free of intense crime rate, cleansing will begin by having or voting leaders - by individuals that are enlightened and seek the good - that are committed to good. Their loyalty is doing the good first. Of such leaders, their mind believes another set of ideas opposed to evil and corruptions.

Political leader fiqures, like the likes of Nelson Mandela, will set examples for public officers, security officers and even workers in the private sectors. Their influence spreads like virus across all functional and active systems present in the country.

Good leaders are the only people that has the capacity and earnest sincerity of mind to judge economic crimes like money laundering, racketeering, embezzlement and forgeries, especially where currency is concerned. Only they can abolish flourishing criminal businesses like prostitution and tirelessly fights human and drug trafficking and abuse. Only in such political atmosphere can fraudulent activities in the internet, social medias, banks, investment can in a real sense dissolve.

Now, question is, how then can we have such leaders in Nigeria our dear country?

A lifelong historical facts relates cases of the Biafra, Aba women riots, assassination of leaders, Niger Delta millitants, end SARS protests and the very famous war of dividing the country into parts and spareparts.

Now I ask, do you, the reader, aggree with human oppinions?

Well maybe, YES, especially when the said opinions alligns with your own sense of reasoning and speculations.

Or maybe, NO, you cast away you own reasoning and opinions as nothing and solely depend on the wisdom of God for a better setup of our nation's political structure.

However, all the cases of historical events mentioned above, were country people's reactions to the economic crime situations and corruptions and injustice from the system that has caused so much pains and grievances in the heart of the masses.

As I earlier mentioned human opinions, suggestions and solutions to problems, I'll have you clearly understood that all the above listed events were results of individual's or group of individuals' opinions and suggested ways and strategies to provide solutions to the then socioeconomic and political crises in our dear country at the time. Now with your highly held "yes" or "no" answer to the question I earlier asked, you could see clearly where you belong, maybe you wish that Nigeria be divided, as this seems to you as the best solution so far to reduce economic crime rate and the corruption that has eaten deep into the fibres and fabrics of our nation.

But I asked one more, do you think that - with an indepth understanding that life is beyond human reasoning and impulses - human: opinions; emotional outburst and reactions, as clearly expressed in violence; speculations and analysis will offer any promising and stable solutions of far reaching impacts in totally dissolving economic crime rate and corruption?
I leave that to you.

Now, the fourth point. Still on enhancing economic crime rate and corruption, let's take a journey - deeply in thought yet soberly in our mind- into the spiritual perspective of things. Apart from the realist that believes that life is all about what we sense ( see, touch and smell ).

There are many others like you and I, who so dearly and earnestly believes that life is primarily and principally spiritual, thats why we discover and learn many spiritual principles. However, do spirituality shape the nature of a nation's political and economic structure. It's a very common scenarios that many are involved and are also seriously commited to certain spiritual practices in Africa.

These spiritual and religious belief system and practices includes:
occultism, confraternity and cultism, traditionalism, Islam, Christianity, whichcraftcy, necromancy, voodo, magical practices etc.

In view, it's very clear that anyone that occupy any political position in a nation and is committed to any of the aforementioned practices will expressly live out what is taught and practiced in any of such religious and spiritual bodies. If any of such bodies is notorious for corrupt practices like the warlocks, necromancers and confraternities, and leaders emerges from them, then it's certain that we will produce corrupt leaders and terrible rulers.

They are certain sect in islam that strongly believe in total dominance especially when gained through violence and terrorism, if a leader or public worker from such sects arises, the country concerned can be very sure of series of hardship, violence, human trafficking and untold sufferingamong the masses and countless economic crimes and crises. Such leader will give room for terrorism so that their religion will gain dominance and control.

On the other hand, there are good people of islam and Christianity and other religion that believe in the good and also practices the good. Leaders that emerges from these groups becomes a blessing to the nation. In order to reduce economic crimes in from this perspective, a leader, before being voted for or appointment for any influencial positions, should go through a diligent search on their spiritual and religious background before further decision of allowing such occupy any position.

In conclusion, fighting the battle of economic crime situation in a nation can't be achieved by the government alone, or just by the masses, but by every single individual that reside or belong to the country going through such situation. Such task is a great burden and any good and approved measure should be employed to reduce economic crimes and crises.
