KKG & EPA Strategic Partnership For Better Energy In Africa by kiakiagas: 4:33pm On Jan 24, 2022
KiaKia gas, Nigeria’s first online company that enables efficient consumption of LPG projects in Africa, has announced a partnership with Energy Project Africa (EPA), a renewable energy company located in the heart of Lagos, Nigeria.

EPA, which seeks to provide renewable energy products and services to business owners across Nigeria, West Africa, and East Africa, will leverage this new partnership to facilitate energy efficiency and consumption across its zones of operations. This productive partnership will see to the improvement of energy projects in Africa.

“Nigeria is blessed with a lot of human resources. However, carbon emission is at an all-time high, and this has stretched power supplies to the vast population of the nation to a breaking point. Now is the time to turn to clean energy” says Uwandu Emmanuel, founder of Kiakia gas. “It has been projected that clean energy can globally aid the fight against climate change, and we will love to be part of that change”.

It should be known that Kiakia gas, since its inception, has harnessed new technologies to enhance healthy LPG consumption within and beyond the borders of Nigeria. With its new partner, EPA, the growing demand for clean energy can now be fully satisfied.

The benefits of this new brand, EPA, include.

· Provision and procurement of renewable energy products for small and large businesses across West and East Africa.
· Feasibility studies on how businesses across West and East Africa can leverage renewable energy to facilitate a healthier business environment.
· One of the problems of energy consumption within Africa is maintaining and sustaining the energy. EPA attempts to provide useful information and kit-set on how businesses can use their clean energy optimally.

Kiakia gas is an online company that uses the latest technology to facilitate the consumption of LPG across Nigeria in a reliable manner. The use of fossil fuels to generate energy has increased sustainability and environmental problems such as air pollution and ocean acidification. Simply put, fossil fuel energy makes our environment less habitable. Switching to LPG energy is a good way to increase energy adoption in our businesses and communities while also ensuring our communities are kept clean. Hence, KiaKia gas is actively advancing LPG transition. Their website reads:

“In an increasingly complex world, we help intricate systems function, adapt, and evolve so they can benefit communities and society – whether they are capital markets, tax systems, or the economic systems within which business and society exist. We help our clients to make informed decisions and operate effectively within them.”

Kiakia gas provides engineering information necessary in operating gas plants of any capacity. They also inform clients on data and reports containing productive feasibility studies to accommodate an environment that fosters business development across Africa.

Energy Project Africa (EPA) has a mission to solve Africa’s energy problems by promoting clean, renewable adoption and facilitating energy efficiency. EPA is a response to the high demand for accessible clean energy solutions across Africa. In other words, EPA ardently contributes to simplifying energy - clean energy - use across Africa.

ADVANCING LIQUEFIED PETROLEUM GAS (LPG) TRANSITION FOR BUSINESSES AND COMMUNITIES IN AFRICA: THE JOURNEY SO FAR
Environmental challenges are one of the most pressing issues confronting humans today. Emissions from energy use, depletion of resources and generation of waste from production and consumption activities, as well as a variety of other anthropogenic activities, have an adverse influence on the planet. As a result, concerns about the use of fossil fuels have grown, despite the fact that fossil fuels have played a vital role in the socio-economic development and foreign relations of countries over the last 120 years.
However, if Africa does not immediately adopt modern clean energy, it would face imminent danger, as over 850 million Africans still rely on solid fuels for residential and commercial use. This necessitated a complete transition in energy and material use from the dirtiest to the cleanest sources.
The importance of technology and governance policy in accelerating sustainable transitions cannot be overstated. Renewable and low-carbon energy sources are part of the policy mix. Because the ongoing energy transition necessitates the construction of new infrastructure or the modification of existing infrastructure, the business model is crucial.
It is against this thrust that KIAKIA GAS (KKG), an online company that uses the latest technology to facilitate the consumption of LPG across Nigeria in a reliable manner, is determined to continue unleashing its technological-based facilities to other parts of Africa.
Kiakia gas started as Nigeria’s first online energy outfit offering outstanding, quick & safe delivery of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and its related products to Nigerian homes and industries. The company has evolved into an energy solutions company creating a future in which gas will lead the transition of the African energy space from traditional forms of energy to renewable forms of energy making energy available to the last mile-consumers from urban areas to off-grid areas.
In 2016, the frontiers of e-commerce in Nigeria was expanded when an online cooking gas shop debuted in the country, catering to the needs of Lagosians. Mr. Uwandu Emmanuel Founder and C.E.O of Kiakia gas explained the motivation behind the founding of the online gas shop and he is quoted saying:
“In 2013 WHO published that over 98,000 Nigerian women die annually from the use of firewood and other fossil fuels. If a woman cooks breakfast, lunch and dinner it is equivalent to smoking between three to 20 packages of cigarettes a day and ”remember the Federal ministry of health warns that smokers are liable to die young.
He then advised households to embrace LPG as it is the cleanest, cheapest and safest way to cook.
Mr Ifeanyi Ogbekene, a co-founder of Kiakia Gas, also emphasized and reaffirmed the company's commitment to using Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) as an essential tool for achieving the new Sustainable Development Goals by leveraging eCommerce as a platform to buy cooking gas and related products to the doorstep of every Nigerian household and industry in a convenient manner, while also providing multiple payment options such as cash on delivery, POS, and payment by credit card.
In just over five months of operation, Kiakia Gas has managed to turn the idea of buying cooking gas online in Nigeria into a mainstream culture by providing convenient booking platforms, excellent customer service, and the use of technology to ensure accurate quantity filling, safety and quality assurance of cylinders and accessories, as well as quick delivery service, resulting in a higher percentage of Nigerian homemakers and industries calling for the company to expand.
Kiakiagas, which garnered more funding (see plate 1 below) to help her realize her bold vision of becoming Nigeria's and Sub-Saharan Africa's leading cooking gas brand, was also recognized as a First of its Kind in the Ecommerce and Natural Gas Industries, respectively, by receiving an award at the FIRST OF ITS KIND AWARDS organized by TFK media Limited, continues to set the standard for other cooking gas dealers to follow.
Over a period of five years, Kiakia gas has been able to distribute 200,000 metric tonnes (mt) of LPG nationwide at affordable prices. The company has developed not only an LPG feasibility study but also the installation of LPG plants for over fifty companies in Nigeria. The company deals in LPG engineering, data report, consulting and offer courses relating to learning materials to improve knowledge on areas related to gas and engineering. The company procured the best LPG plant products with higher quality from USA, Germany and UK.
The MISSION of the company is simple: To use gas to bridge the energy access between traditional forms of energy and renewable forms of energy. While the SLOGAN “we’re ready in advance….” shows the level of commitment, integrity and reliability of the company.
The company has consistently planned, strategized, trained, researched and attended international and national conferences (see plates 2,3&4 below) with the sole purpose of actualizing its mission of bridging the energy access between the conventional forms of energy and renewable forms of energy.
Most industrialized countries have built legal structures to strengthen the use of clean energy sources in accordance with sustainable development goals to ensure that the environment is protected from the use of filthy energy. The pursuit of sustainable energy and advancement of LPG development is central to the Kiakia gas not only in Nigeria but also in Africa. This explained the presence of the company experts in Germany for the production of LPG SMART METER (see plate 5&6) by a subsidiary company of Kiakia gas, GAS360, to facilitate the consumption of LPG in African communities.
The smart meter has the potential to help businesses and communities in Nigeria and Africa to harmonize their pressing health, climate, clean cooking, and environmental goals, as they can now consume LPG as low as they want. This bridges the gap of the inability of the low-income households to use LPG due to the high price per kilogram. It reduces distribution costs as several households can consume LPG from a large gas cylinder. Businesses that are concentrated in an industrial area will as well benefit from a large gas tank with the aid of the smart meter. The result is increased LPG access, as well as less accumulation of gas cylinders in African communities and business environments.

Prior to the inauguration in 2018 and implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) in 2021, African countries purchase gas from Singapore, Denmark, Switzerland, Maldives, South Africa and Nigeria while the largest consumers of gas in Africa include Egypt, Algeria and Nigeria. Kiakia Gas is aimed to reduce LPG cost that is associated with the importation of Gas from western countries when the same product could be obtained from African soil. This will be facilitated by AfCFTA to support the businesses of Gas Plants and ensure they reach their full potential; to this end, Kiakia gas provides quality, value-added services to its clients.
