As the general elections gathers momentum, former Anambra North constituency leader, Senator Alphonsus Obi Igbeke has outlined the need for the country to opt for an Igbo man as president. He made this known during a consultative meeting with a political civil group, National Forum for South East Presidency(NFSEP).

Igbeke reiterated his support to the group's objectives as advocating for an Igbo presidency of a South East extraction as it suggests practical strategies for its actualisation.

According to him, the seat of the Presidency demands a person with indepth capacity and prestige to lead the frontiers of the economy forward,
"Igbo presidency have to do with someone who has the capacity, somebody who has the indepth knowledge of electionery procedures.

'He must have good records and reputation, if you put someone without capacity, I assure you that even if the Igbos have all political parties to contest in, we won't still make it, this is very important and so I support the move for a president from an Igbo extraction."

He further butressed that the idea to support an Igbo presidency in the forthcoming elections will position the region with a high sense of purpose and unify their voice as one.

The Senator however noted that for Igbos to have a leader that speaks for all, there is need for commitment, proper monitoring of activities, government of inclusiveness among others from such individual.

In his remarks, National President of the association, Dr Patrick Enuneku, stressed that South -East should be involved in the top leadership status of Nigeria for the country to enjoy the dividends of democracy. According to him, the emergence of a president of Igbo extraction which will bring an atmosphere of decency in our democracy.

"It is time for the Igbos to provide answers to the numerous challenges facing the country, he said. "

On his part, Chairman , Planning and Strategic Committee of NFSEP, Anthony Dibor said the quest for South-East presidency is a valid agitation.

Dibor encouraged the need to support a president of Igbo extraction as it will help calm the various tensions in different parts of the country.

Among the dignitaries present were the Committee Secretary and Media Director of NSFEP, Anambra chapter, Comr Uchenna Ezeadigwe, ICT Cordinator, Comr Izunna Nwaikwu, Hon Izuka Udoka, Hon Samuel Ogogor and a host of others.
