The situation in Nigeria defies every economic logic. Should the Federal Government remove oil subsidy or pay for it? Honestly, one is confused on what exactly should be done. Remove subsidy and further impoverish the already dilapidated economy. Pay subsidy and watch it being cornered by the greedy, old politicians whose penchant for financial embezzlement is never satisfied.

However, as it is said; one has to settle for the lesser evil between two evils. I will suggest to pay subsidy. We are already used to governmental unaccountability. Anything to stabilize or reduce oil price is welcome.

What's your opinion: to remove or to not remove subsidy?

State government should import their fuel. IFG should allow State government to import. Then see if there will be smuggling again.

Subsidy removal with good intention is the best.

They claim petroleum products are diverted to neighbouring countries by marketers and as such marketers are the ones benefitting from it. What stops d govt from plugging the holes and routes thru which these marketers divert products

If you remove subsidy on oil, you will be driving price/litre up. Do you think Nigerians can survive that at the moment?

How will a state like Ekiti or Borno import? You want to increase pressure on Lagos?

Allowance of public office holders should be slashed by 90% before removing fuel subsidy.

3 trillion naira will be used to subsidized fuel this year, it means the dollars realized by NNPC through export of crude oil will be returned abroad as subsidy, leaving behind little amount of dollars. This will lead to dollar scarcity and further weakness of naira

They should provide good business environment, good working environment, 300℅ salary increase for all government and private workers, then that subsidy can be removed.

At a point, fuel subsidy has to be removed. It is not sustainable. But now is not the right time in my opinion. It will only worsen recent inflation and economic hardship

Honestly, it makes no sense. It only weakens the naira, but Nigerians do not benefit anything from government except subsidy, that is why people are resisting its removal.

We are in dilema, but I believe, if the subsidy is removed labour should negotiate salary increase and other benefits for workers and Nigerians as a whole. This is why dangote refinery and others are good news a lot good will happen if we produce refined fuel locally

They will reason with state that owns Port. If Ekiti buys her fuel she will never accept diversion.
