Police chiefs charged…with murder of Boko Haram leaders – Daily Trust

Two assistant police commissioners and a number of other policemen are standing trial in Abuja over the extrajudicial killing of Boko Haram leaders during the Maiduguri crisis in July 2009, sources at the Force Headquarters told Daily Trust.

Assistant commissioners Mr. David Abang and Mr. Akira were charged with illegal killing of sect leader Mohammed Yusuf, his father-in-law Baa Fugu Mohammed and alleged financier Buji Foi, who were killed by policemen after being captured alive in the wake of the crisis nearly two years ago

Police authorities initially claimed that they were either killed in combat or as they attempted to escape, but video clips later emerged showing that the men were executed after capture. This forced authorities to arrest 17 policemen, but no official information has been released since then on what happened to them.

Is it really worth it to continue staying in this country? Are we cursed or what exactly is the problem with us?

Why is is that we leave leprosy to fight excema. We don't even have leaders. Why is it that we always like to shroud everything in secrecy. It is only in Nigeria that policemen commit criminal acts and they are covered by 'powers from above'. In any sane society, judging from the way the guy was killed, people would have been put on the spot. Initially we were told the guy was killed and was not captured alive. We all believed it until a newspaper raised it that he was arrested alive and even interviewed. At that spot, those guys involved will have been arrested and tried immediately but in Nigeria the powers that be prevented that.

So it took a bomb blast to wake government up to its responsibility. This is a very crazy thing.

Men we don't have leaders at all. How did things get so bad in this country. Well God dey sha. Those who have made peaceful change impossible are making a violent one inevitable. Time will tell

maybe there is some backdoor negotiation with boko haram, and one of their demand is to bring to justice the police officers that shot dead their leaders.

Cursed will be a subtle way of putting it.
Nigeria is worse than cursed,
Tunisia just sentenced their Ex-President to 35 years in jail for Corruption,
Wonder when that will happen in Nigeria,

Why did it take almost 2 years to file charges against these people. What about all the animals in police/army uniform who can be clearly seen gunning down unarmed and defenseless abokis on youtube. Why didn't Yar'Adua or his pet mumu GEJ condemn the killings when they happened? Why didn't they sack the state commissioner of police? Why didn't the IGP resign? Why hasn't the government even said anything up till now?

People are in such a hurry to condemn Boko Haram forgetting the thousands of innocent Hausa/Fulanis that were murdered in cold blood by our goverment. Judging by body count, the nigerian police force is by far the biggest terrorist group in this country.

I'm not trying to defend Boko Haram but God knows, if the government came to my home town and started killing people en masse like they did in Maiduguri, I'd probably be mixing homemade explosives in my kitchen right now.

This is a ridiculous Country. Why should they face trial for the killing of a foolish man who also sent many police officers and citizens to their earlier Grave? Many of those families who lost their breadwinners are currently suffering for his insensitivity. The guy deserve to die to serve as deterrents to others. Those police officers deserve medals for getting rid of the society of him.He does not belong here.

The problem of Boko Haram has long been there. The Former Governor of Borno State,Sheriff also have a case to answer. The body Language from the Muslims in this country suggested that they are in support of Boko Haram.None of their so called Northern leaders have called them to order.Where is Ciroma and his group?I am sure the Illiterates northerners are still not aware of the full impact of what this will generate to if Christians and the South decide to hit back. They are laughing behind the scene and cheering.Let see who will laugh last.

Violence truly commands FULL attention in Nigeria!

First the police killed yusuf [boko haram inventor/leader] and swept it under the carpet expecting it will go the Nigerian way[kill anyone u want nothing dey happen!].

Yusuf's disciples [boko haramites] decided to show the police that they can do worst than them the police and went on rampage burning police stations and killing any police/soldier on sight, as if that did not get them the desired level of attention and satisfaction, they went for hafiz ringin's head right in the midst of his incompetent officers!

After a very narrow escape, fear catch IG!

IG, knowing fully well that his incompetent men cant protect him from the hands of these madmen [boko haramites], he decides to placate Yusuf boys by sacrificing some of his incompetent men!

Lets hope the sacrifice will placate the madmen of boko.

Now Nigerians knows that violence is the key to teaching incompetent and cowardly government agencies a good lesson.

Season 2 will be individuals taking the law into their hands by: (a) when a policeman kills your brother and u know ur brother is innocent [for instance when they shoot conductor or driver because of N20] - the next of kin to the deceased will pickup any weapon nearby and go for the head of any policeman nearby. That way, police will learn to respect fellow citizens by arresting and taking a suspect to court for proper trial! (b) When a policeman stops you and doesnt address you as 'Sir', you remind him that its his duty to respect and honour you cause his salary is paid thru your tax!

Policing will soon change for the better in Nigeria - thanks to boko haram!

Finally, Boko Haram should respect fellow civilian citizens by making sure their is no civilian casualty in their attacks and they should desist from making their activities religiously inclined, That way, Nigerians will be sympathetic to their pursuance!

It seems you have an engraved hate for northerners and Muslims from your post.Try google for the recent response form alot of notable Muslims and Northerners condemning the actions of Boko haram. When Buhari spoke and condemn the actions, last i read were people(xtian southerners mostly) saying he has a hand in it.Even IBB condemn it.So what else do you want. Why i say engrave mind, its simply that you pretend not to know or want to know if it is about Muslims or northerners.
The mosque i attended after the incidence hammered on the issue.Blaming the boko haram members actions as unfair and the elites/Governments lack of consideration for the needs of the masses. They Imam caution the youths about the violence and things happening.NSCIA, Ansarul-deen and the sultan condemn there actions.Borno state governor and a whole lot of Muslims. Then why come up with your crazy ideas and suspicions!

Y now they don't want BH to snuff them out and they want to use this to placate them. What of all the extrajudicial killings of innocents over bribes and 20 naira? But now that it concerns them directly they want to react albeit too late.

That aside I have strong reasons to believe that the former guv Ali Modu is also culpable cos My brother who lives in Maiduguri told me that when Yusuf was arrested the commissioner then did inform the guv of the arrest and the guv drove to the station himself without any escort or siren or paraphernalia of office. He stepped down and slapped Yusuf twice shouting at the top of his voice Ya ka yi man haka,ai ba haka ni da kai mu yi alkawari meaning Y did u do this to me this wasnt our agreement etc.He then asked for the guys laptop which was presented he smashed it there removed the HDD and asked the guy to be shot.

DON'T WORRY. THE BOKO BOYS KNOWS HOW TO TAKE CARE OF THEIR ENEMIES - IF THE EX-GOVERNOR IS IMPLICATED IN ANY WAY, THE BOYS WILL SURELY DO THEIR JOB WELL.

AM JUST AGAINST THE BOKO BOYS INCLUDING INNOCENT CIVILIANS IN THEIR CASUALTIES.

This is complete nonsense. When will people realize that Boko Haram is a threat not to be pacified but to be destroyed!!!

This is the beginning of another round of systematic villification of southerners in the police force.

IGP Ringim it appears has come to do the bidding of the North rather than Nigeria.

With the kind of sentiment you exhibit and you wonder y nigeria is not better. When timothy Mcvei bombed a federal building in america the government did not use extra-judicial means to kill him, and upon all the atrocities committed by the Nazis in europe they were sentenced after the due process of law was exhausted. For your information islamic cleric's have been killled for criticising the boko haram sect which of cause is an offshoot of political machination and not based on any genuine islamic ideology. If you hate northerner's and muslim's in particular, hate them for that but not becuase they support boko haram, they don't have a place in islam, muslims and northerner's in general.

Once agan, NL and Nigerians at large, learn not to believe everything that's written on the pages of a news daily. There is a dearth of inormation of the supposed Court of Law before which these alleged killer cops have been arraigned and are facing trial.
We are watchung to see if the political elites would for once do what is right. Let me warn that a judicial arrangement in the nature of the "Apo" six in Abuja should not be cordoned neither is a half street measure acceptable.

Why didn't the U.S army capture Osama and take him to court?
