Aliko Dangote’s auto company, Dangote Peugeot Automobile, begins assembly in Nigeria

Dangote Peugeot Automobiles Nigeria Limited (DPAN) has started assembling vehicles in Nigeria, beginning with the Land Trek, 3008, 5008 and the new 508.

The assembly of Peugeot vehicles comes nearly four years after joint owners Dangote Group received approval from the Nigerian regulator after previously expressing interest in the former Peugeot plant, now known as PAN Nigeria Ltd, The Sun reported.

According to the Nigerian automaker, the newly built Green Field Assembly Plant in Nigeria’s northwestern region can assemble 120 vehicles per day across two shifts. The management further added that the vehicles to be introduced are expected to flaunt their outstanding aesthetics, rich technological endowment and safety features to appeal to the customers and the motoring public.

“With the New Green Field Ultima Assembly Plant, a lot is being done by DPAN to ensure visibility of the Peugeot brand and availability of spare parts to the network and the generality of Nigerians. DPAN will be encouraged by our technical partner to reposition the brand in the short, medium, and long term as we ensure customer satisfaction and sustainability.

“This dream has started with the re-launch of the Peugeot brand in Nigeria as well as the local assembly of the 301 at our new Kaduna plant and thereafter the introduction of the Landtrek, 3008, 5008 and the new 508…Nothing is being spared to enable market recapture, hence all hands are on deck to ensure not just survival but also continued growth in a market with potential for cars in excess of 100,000 units per year and growing.”

DPAN is jointly owned by Africa’s richest man, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, through his conglomerate, Dangote Industries Limited; Kaduna and Kebbi States Government; and a technical partner (Stellantis Group, the parent company of Peugeot).

Expect kogi state governor to purchace over 500 vehicles from dangote for several state ministries and buhari will make that company the official supplier of vehicles for federal ministries to ensure that the company excel...this is the kind of country we live in

Not denying the virtues of competition in a market-driven economy and how it’s ultimately good for the buyer, but it wouldn’t have escaped the attention of many that it’s only when it comes to a business your nasty, envious and bigoted self thinks Igbos are leading in that you’d bring this argument of : ‘competition being good for the masses as it will drive down prices, hence Dangotes’ entry into the Nigerian automobile industry will benefit all’!

How come the so called ‘competition’ in the cement industry (of which Dangote is a key player) hasn’t driven down prices!?

It’s all about greed of the muslim core north hegemony.....wanting to be a ‘leading player’ in ALL commanding heights of the economy, and not wanting the Igbo (who you have designated ‘conquered nyamurees’ by virtue of the uncivil war) to be the leading player in ANY prominent industry/sector in Nigeria!

You did a number on Ibeto and succeeded in sidelining him in the cement industry!

You may be smiling outwards towards Air Peace, but inside you’re bristling with fury that a ‘nyamuree’ is has the ‘temerity’ to be the market leader in the aviation sector, hence you’re determined -come hell or high water...by fire, by force- that you must launch that your Air Nigeria before Buhari fcks off in 2023...and corner most of the lucrative international routes as well as airline slots at major international airports just so you can undercut Air Peace! Does anyone actually think those useless rumours of the US wanting him extradited came outta nowhere!? It was to try and sully his reputation and that of his airline!

INNOSON went through similar travails...was hounded and harassed, with his wife slapped by Nigerian security personnel, just because of he ‘dared’ to take a bank to court! He has equally been noted on numerous occasions to bemoan the fact that FOREX is difficult to get at gov’t rates! Meanwhile, Emefiele and the CBN are falling over themselves to give Dangote all the FOREX he needs at favourable rates!

What i see here is nothing but GREED by Dangote! He wants his fingers in ALL pies that matter...certainly, those ones where a Igbo seems to be the market leader! It’s all driven by the belief that THEY and THEY ALONE should control ALL the commanding heights of the Nigerian economy!

Ur not totally wrong sir, but you can agree with me that innoson an indigenous car company deserves more than it is getting. NO GOVERNMENT STRUCTURE USES A FOREIGN OR IMPORTED BRAND OF CEMENT WHEN WE HAVE AN INDIGENOUS CEMENT PRODUCER AS OUR FELLOW COUNTRY MAN. many of the countries we emultate do not use foreign brand of vehicles for official purposes i wish my country can patronise our own
