I am surprised at the comments so far.
As for me, it is a good step in the right direction seeing that small businesses are a substantial part of petrol consumers. Anything that replaces the pollution of petrol and its recurrent cost is welcome idea.
I will advise the OP to try and include more details like the size of the solar system in watts, battery size, estimated back up hours, and cost of acquiring one.

before you condemn, have you asked about the effort that went into it. You guys think product prototyping is a rice n beans affair abi? Commonsense should tell us that such a project is primarily an electrical one and therefore the mechanical part like the kiosk construction doesn't have to be top notch for a start. Go to China and ask manufacturers for a quote of similar kiost to see how cheap it can be for a starting entrepreneur to build and commercialize a nice looking kiosk. I don't blame you and your likes condemning the effort much.

you should be comparing this to the current alternatives that prevalent like i-beta-pass gen set and unemployment. This kiost can serve small business that don't need much power. A roadside electronics technician using primarily a soldering iron of about 100 watts can benefit from this. A barber using clippers and LED light of less than 120w too can benefit from it. As time goes on, a bigger one for computer business centres and game houses can be built. That's is better that gen set and that stress that comes with it especially at a time govt want to remove subsidy from petrol.
Lastly, this is a private initiative being suggested to govt and NGOs. Instead of buying gen set as empowerment buy this and kill many birds with a shot.
