Court Orders EFCC To Stop Further Action Against Okorocha by oshozondii: 10:48pm On Feb 08, 2022
A Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Tuesday, ordered the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), to stop further actions against the former governor of Imo State, Sen. Rochas Okorocha.

Justice Stephen Pam gave the order after Okorocha’s counsel Mr Ola Olanipekun (SAN), brought an application that the EFCC is not supposed to take further action against Okorocha.

Olanipekun had submitted that the EFCC was going against an earlier judgement delivered by the same court in suit number: FHC/ABJ/CS/45/2019, wherein it ordered the commission to release the international passport and traveling documents of Okorocha.

It was due to EFCC’s refusal to adhere to the judgement that made Okorocha to approach the same court in suit number: FHC/PH/FHR/165/2021 for the protection of his human rights that were under threat.

During Tuesday’s proceedings, Olanipekun informed the court that on December 6, 2021, a judgement was delivered in favour of Okorocha, which the applicant, EFCC, ought to obey or appeal; noting, however, that the Commission decided to contravene it.

He also told the court that despite its decision, EFCC has refused to release the international passport and travel documents of his client, Okorocha,

The counsel regretted that EFCC went and took to another disobedience to make another charge from the same issues ruled on, saying that it was contempt of court: “Today, it appears like no judgement was entered here.”

But, counsel for EFCC, N.A. Dodo, pleaded for time to respond to the processes, and informed the court that it got the application from the applicant on Monday, and denied that the EFCC was acting against the judgement of court.

Dodo also said that the commission had called on Okorocha to come and pick his passport and traveling documents, but he (Okorocha) had not responded.

He said: “My Lord, we are complying with the judgement. We have called him (Okorocha) to come and pick his passport, but he refused.”

Justice Pam said he was unhappy with the attitude of EFCC in the handling of the matter, noting that he would not tolerate contempt.

Pam, adjourned the case till February 14, for hearing, and warned both parties to obey court orders.

“I take exception to disobedience. Your organisation (EFCC) should not do anything to the applicant until this matter is determined.

“What is the order, obey it. If you are not okay with the judgement, go and appeal it. Don’t allow the drama that took place in my court in the matter between Peter Odili and Nigeria Immigration to take place here.”

He should go and pick his passport since the EFCC has told him to come for it.

He had time to go to Aso Rock but no time to visit EFCC to collect his passport.

I think you need to read up on these two cases. Because of click baiting for traffic, some incompetent bloggers/journalists report in a shallow way that ends up giving wrong impression to their readers.

The case of HE OUK that started over 10 years ago still has not ended because SC lifted his conviction on technicality ground but EFCC is starting the case all over again even though he is arguing that it will amount to double jeopardy but this HE Okorocha case is just starting, trust EFCC to wear him thin too like they did to OUK.

That Okorocha's lawyer is not cheap o. To take him from here in Lagos, Norman Williams in Ikoyi, to PH for a case is not cheap; traveling by flight, accommodation, clerical support, professional fees etc wink Those kind of SAN lawyers are experienced in dragging cases for years and it's no small thing for EFCC to eventually get folks like Okorocha convicted.

To convict Farouk Lawan took like 12 years, OUK too took more than 10 years, I will be surprised if this Okorocha case does not linger for 10 years but EFCC will eventually convict him for as long as he is guilty of those monumental fraud he is charged with. EFCC is not doing a small job o.

Even the same thing happens in the US too. Donald Trump is notorious for that approach too until now that most courts in US are now accelerating cases linked to him.

Well done to all the patriots in EFCC. May God bless you for your patriotic service.

All the enemies of Nigeria will lose las las. They always lose. God bless Nigeria forever.

The prosecution counsel is lying. There's no way they'd ask Rochas to go and pick up his passport and other documents and he won't go.

Nigerian government agencies don't like obeying court orders. They probably refused to give him because they planned to amend the case and charge him again.

Rochas is now an example of when the law hates you, you stole from your people and betrayed them for your selfish ambition in order to please your people's enemies, now your people hate you and your people's enemies now sees you as an enemy because of the same selfish ambition, they want your head, your people also want your head, no support from any side...

What a shame of a country...

I've always been an advocate and patriot of "lets stay, fight for, rescue, and build a nation we, and our downline generations will be proud of".

However, it is clearly an exercise in futility because the number of evil ones who thrive with the status quo far outweighs the reasonable efforts of the patriotic few.

To this end, I say, if you have any legal way to make a dash for a better life, abeg no think twice, but do not go through the backdoor or irregular means as I had done so many years ago. You can read my story of perils on my signature.

Find a legal and genuine way to jakpa and where possible move everyone of your family including your parents.

The evil ones can have Nigeria for keeps.

It's funny how Okorocha an innocent man was deliberately and falsely charged to satisfy political interests without regards for due process. A lot of things said about the man are as false as this EFCC set up.
