Niger Government calls for Collective Efforts to End Banditry


This is part of efforts by the state govẹrnment at reversing the ugly trend.

Chief Press Secretary to Niger state Governor Mrs Mary Noel Berje stated this while addressing Newsmen in Minna on steps taken by the state govẹrnment to bring to the bearest minimal security challenges bedevilling some parts of Niger state.

Mrs Mary Noel Berje however lamented that despite the numerous efforts by Niger state govẹrnment at converting insecurity problem of constitutional lacuna which limit the powers of Governor Abubakar Sani Bello to act with despatch as regards to usage of security personnels remain a sẹrious challenge.

According to the Chief Press Secretary Niger State Govẹrnment led administration of Alh Abubakar Sani Bello had supported all security apparatus with logistics and other welfare packages to enhance effective operation against terrorists in addition to signing the Vigilante Corps law towards unifying all voluntary local security groups operating in Niger state.

Mrs Mary Noel Berje said in addition to that Governor Abubakar Sani Bello has on several occasion reached out to President Muhammadu Buhari and Service Chiefs in a deliberate efforts to bring back normalcy to Niger State in addition to supporting the Internally Displaced Persons with relief materials and personally visiting them to ammeliorate their hardship.

She solicited for the support of Journalists and other critical stakeholders in addressing the problem of armed banditry kidnapping cattle rustling and all forms of criminality in parts of Niger state and Nigeria.

Mrs Mary Noel Berje expressed disgust that the evil activities of these terrorists have brought setbacks in the actualisation of Niger state govẹrnment multi billion naira Bobi Grasing Reserve and road projects within the affected communities.
