Copying GEJ after almost a decade , GEj government gave out 40 such scholarships to the cream of the crop with not one going to his state Baylesa , buhari came and cancelled it fast with the reason that northerners were not in the majority , the south westerns howled with delight as they did not get the majority of the slots because it was merit based, that reinforced in my mind that no this nigeria ant worth it, these guys are not interested in any nation building , just the cushy easy life |

Why are we still sending STEM graduates abroad? What Naija needs to be doing right now is to be educating its future leaders. We need people educated in non-technical fields like philosophy, history, political science, literature, Economics and Law in the elite institutions in the world like Brown University, Princeton, Harvard, University of Oxford, University of Cambridge etc. We need to look for a way to start training its future statesman and women. We have way too many technical graduates going abroad and not too many from the Arts and Sciences. |

davidif: I am curious, The vast majority of those in STEM has not returned or will not return to Nigeria (just like you), so why do you think those in Arts and Humanities will return to Nigeria especially the group of students who attend those elite institutions? And why do you think |

Gerrard59: Cos there are not much jobs for foreigners in those fields as they are mostly taken by the natives. STEM on the other hand has a limited number of natives. |
