"The only authentic identity for the African is the tribe…I am Nigerian because a white man created Nigeria and gave me that identity. I am black because the white man constructed black to be as different as possible from his white. But I was Igbo before the white man came. "~ Chimamanda Adichie

They have come a long way.
They have come a long way as a tribe and a race.

It was not meant to be a smooth one,but inspite that, they kept growing and blooming into the most successful and influential tribe in African and beyond.

A tribe of barely over 40 millions, occupying virtually every nook and cranny of the globe, doing great for themselves, both at home and in their host community.

Millions are scattered across the globe as Nigeria’s greatest and biggest exports to the world. From the Americas to Europe, from Asia to Australia, there is no continent of the world where you will not find an Igbo man or woman striving to eke out a living for themselves.
the Igbos are naturally endowed with the spirit of independence, industry, dedication, and ambition to make their environment and the world a better place.

They dorminate every areas of life, from education and literature ,to the music and movie industries,to sports , local and international politics etc.

With a highly sacred and respected culture and traditions, that have brought them this far, both at the local and international scene of life.
And also, with a great cuisine to keep them healthy and focused as they go about their daily endeavours.

As a Igbo man or woman, you have to be proud of your root.
You have a rich history and culture that will be told in thousands of generations to come.

Be unapologetically proud of your root.

This is a group of people who lost almost 5 million people from a total population of just 15 million in less than 3 years as a result of a British induced genocide to eliminate them for being obstinate over the resources of the east. Hated for their drive and guts, Nigeria turned the killing of igbos into a national pastime..

Barely 6 years after independence, the same group of people from the North and West that joined the East to fight for independence, went back to the same imperial Britain, to hire them back into the country for the ultimate carnage. In the process, the first black on black genocide, post independence Africa was unleashed.., setting the dangerous template that will be used in places like Uganda, Ethiopia, Sudan, Angola Sierra Leone, Liberia etc.

A people who were so massacred, that almost every family lost a loved one , every structure including churches, markets and hospitals bombed! Chased out of the Army, Police and the civil service and barely allowed to participate in the economy of their socalled country afterwards, yet they're economically better off..

The only people whose property were declared "abandoned property" in their lifetime, their businesses wrecked and savings looted! Taunted and insulted even by the presidents of their own country, nthey never blinked. Totally marginalized and starved of funds while billions stolen from their soil is used to develop elsewhere..

YET..

They came out stronger, bolder and even more daring...
If Nigeria ever did anything to the Igbo man, it's the fact that by perennially haranguing him, the system created a special specie of black man out of him. A specie that is highly competitive, never takes no for an answer and willing to travel to the moon and Mars, just to make things happen!
You have no choice but to salute the god called Igbo!

That history made us the force we are today,to be reckoned with.

The Japanese messed up The Chinese when China was very weak.
Read about The Nanjing massacres. Women were raped and men beheaded. Japan was a ruthless imperial power determined to control and dominate Asia.

The Chinese managed to turn it around in recent years and used the nationalist narratives weaved around those events to reawaken a sturborn strand of Chinese nationalism. Today, in order to prove to everyone that china will never be bullied or dictated to again, either by the Japanese or the British or even the Americans, China teaches every bit of that inglorious past to her kids from primary to tertiary institutions, backing it up with strong technical advancements.

That's why the students are always the first to rise up with heavy protests, whenever Japan tries through subtle means, to water down the gruesome realities associated with those horrendous events. We must do the same in Igbo homeland. Those who went in for a killing expedition in the East, at the behest of the imperialists, just to loot and vandalize, must have their names enshrined in the African hall of Fame.. The young ones must be warned of the treacherous and murderous habits of these Evil neighbors..

Igbos the pride of Africa.
Don't let your history to be watered down
Across the Niger
It is your heritage, it is your shame and your glory
Your exit from Nigeria breeds more enemies if ever
Forget not to tell it to the moon; how you stoop to conquer
When the chickens comes home to roost
Roast them not, as it is the manner of some
Keep the trade resilience spirit which torments you all
And birth not with the story of shame.

Please be educated that no human being is either Black, Blue, White or Green. It is very ignorant to refer human beings as black or white. In IQ test, if your answer is black or white for human you may end up with one digit IQ result. It is funny to read a nonexistent man (Whiteman) constructed an existent color (Black).

Why are iq tests relevant ? What exactly does iq test measure ? Answer: nothing.
Intelligence is an abstract and ill defined notion: ability to solve abstract problems.
You can't measure a person's ability, you can only subjectively measure his performance at the moment the test was taken.

In short: iq tests are mere group statistics, and for the individual, they are quite meaningless.

For those who keep talking about Igbo savings being made to disappear by Nigeria after the civil war, I want to ask this:
You Igbos and your southeast were at war with the rest of Nigeria, yet you expected Nigerian banks to hold money for you ?
Biafran soldiers went into other regions and raped and maimed and killed and looted, yet you were expecting the banks of your ennemies and of those victimised by your soldiers to keep money for you ?

What type of reasoning goes on in the southeast ?

You lost a war which you started, the first casualties of that war were whatever savings you had in the banks of your ennemies. I can't believe this is any hard to understand, your war caused damages to the region's which you invaded, you are lucky you weren't all (southeast) put through hard labour as reparations for your war.

The losses from other regions, especially the Midwestern region are enormous enough.

You said the igbos started the war! How? Explain to the reading public so I can take it from there. The historical events leading to the first shot fired are well documented and are in the open sphere. You can't be allowed to get away with your endless revisionism here. Your uncles fired the first shots at Gakem! You bombed from Lagos! Whatever happened from The Biafra side thereafter was nothing but defending the motherland... That's history. Facts..

Dude, your soldiers invaded my region, the Midwest, that is how the war started.
You are the one dwelling in revisionism. Wake up.
The Biafran war ended in 1970, yet up to today, the Biafran propaganda seems to continue to live rent free in the heads of the people of the southeast.
Re: A Short Igbo Appreciation Thread by Nobody: 3:19pm On Feb 19, 2022
Most times I discuss with Igbo people about the war, I see them only churning out Biafran propaganda instead of actual facts which are very easily verrifyable.
This is the kind of extremism which created groups like boko haram, Nigerians like to deny reality and live in an alternate reality which favours their self-image.

1)The first shots were fired by Nigerian soldiers at Biafra soldiers at a place called Gakem in present day Cross Rivers..
2)The bulk of Nigerian soldiers were not even made up of fulanis but of northern minorities from the middle belt, yorubas and some Southern minorities and North and West African mercenaries..
3)Air sorties and land attacks were all coordinated from Lagos and Midwestern soldiers loyal to Lagos, were all aware.
4)Biafran soldiers were also made up of elements from the Midwest, including folks like Kaduna Nzeogwu and co.
5)If you're upset that Biafran soldiers moved into the Midwest in their bid to quench the nuisance at Lagos, you should have asked your uncles why they felt helpless to stop The Nigerian government from using your airspace to fly in bombers that destroyed markets, schools, homes and churches in Biafraland...
The Biafrans did the right thing...

Your alternate reality looks very strong here, you are so intrenched in it that you can't tell it is complete nonsense any more.

Rugaria:

4)Biafran soldiers were also made up of elements from the Midwest, including folks like Kaduna Nzeogwu and co.
It seems you are unaware that some of the soldiers who fought against Biafra were Igbo. So your comment about Nzeogwu is totally meaningless, Nzeogwu betrayed his people in service to his political allies: the Igbos who politically dominated the eastern region. Fun fact: Nzeogwu was actually born and raised in the north, he knew next to nothing about his ancestral culture. In every war, there are bound to be traitors and Nzeogwu was just one example.

Rugaria:

The Biafrans did the right thing...

Once again, you seem to have the chronological order of events mixed up, your soldiers invaded the Midwestern region long before any Egyptian airstrike took place.

In an other note, the Midwest wasn't an independent country, it didn't have an airspace. It was a semi autonomous region like all other regions of Nigeria, including the eastern region.

I think you are a kid who struggles with learning. Try reading a book once in a while rather than constantly getting high on cocaine and Biafran propaganda.
