let me explain it you from an agent,"

If a car was supposed to pay 3million duty... U bribe customs with 700,000 and u pay 1.5miliion duty.

Even at that, patrol customs(FOU) extort money from u from 50,000 upwards on the road for the next few months or years.

But with the e-invoice, u get the 3million invoice and pay the correct duty.. No more bribes and settlement at the ports or on the road..

To me as a clearing agent, I will be loosing over 80% of what I normally see as profit cos of these bribes..

But as a Nigerian, for the greater good, its the best thing that can happen to customs issues cos the fraud too much.

NB.. This my explanation applies to car imports alone which is my area of specialisation.."

Is 3 million not too much for Car duty?

Let the loop hole be covered but let importers protest on the price of car duty.

I don't think you understand the implication... Agents are crying for you but you but you are not seeing it. If such hike of import duty take place, prices of cars will go up, car parts will go up, goods will go up. Every body will be affected bro. So is not about agents crying for importers, is for them to do what is write

Even the custom official are against the policy because it phases most of them out of office and Roger won't come like before again and prices of cars will skyrocket because it's the system that will tell you the amount to pay.

Would that not be a massive inflation on the price of cars, machineries and others in Nigeria which directly would affect transport, spareparts and others?...

Pls dont argue with those fools , car price is about to triple from what it was, I dont know whether dey dont see it with this e invoice.

This is tricky. In the circula from CBN, there's an exemption clause to the goods that are eligible for e-invoice.
Please can anyone throw more light.

It's the clearing agent that are generating revenue for the government, they are the only people to speak to the government in the language they will understand, that is the reason for the strike.

"No more bribes or settlement on the road?"

Really? The electronic medium will remove the gangs of people on the road? This is like the Police "assuring" Nigerians of security, if they have made one payment or the other for a new permit or license plate.
The e-valuation will not physically remove anyone from the roads leading to the ports. NCS should mount that patrol on access roads to validate this increment.
