Oron is mostly popular with maritime academy situated in its environ, but little do we know about the culture and richness of Oron soil and people. They are warm-loving and accommodating.

Here are 16 facts you didn't know about 'Oron nation'

�1. Oron is the 2nd most Oil producing community after Etinan in Nigeria.
They produce 60% of Akwa-ibom crude oil. (Yet, no good basic amenities to show for it)

�2. Oron is the 3rd largest ethnic group in Akwa -ibom state with 5 (five) Local government areas (okobo, mbo, udung-uko, oron, urue-offong/Oruko) after the Ibibio and Annang ethnic group.

�3. Oron people inhabit parts of both Akwa-ibom and Cross river and share same ancestral affiliations with the efiks (calabar).
(Its easier for an efik descendant to comprehend Oron than Annang and Ibibio ethnic group)

�4. Oron people can speak and understand Ibibio and Annang very well, though Annang and Ibibio can hear/Understand Oron dialect, but they cannot speak Oron dialect correctly.

�5. Oro land is originally address as "Oron nation" and its people consist of 9 Clans called Afaha.
These are; Afaha Okpo, Afaha Ukwong, Ebughu, Afaha Ibighi, Effiat, Afaha Ubodung, Etta, Afaha Oki-uso, and Afaha Idua (Ilue).

�6. Oron is the cure for delicious sea foods ( crabs, fresh fish, prawns, oysters, crayfish and so on...) A place where people from other part of Nigeria come to buy crayfish, fresh afang, big fishes etc.

�7. Fair complexion is mostly seen amongst them. Their ladies are mostly tall, pretty and intelligent.

�8. Oron is home to one of the oldest museum and high schools in Nigeria, Methodist boys high school, Oron. Founded in 1905. And most popular high school in Akwa ibom state, Methodist Boys high school.

�9. Oron is home to a lot of natural resources including silica sand, salt, Limestone,Uranium, Manganese, clay etc.

�10. Their major occupation is fishing and farming.

�11. Oron Union is the most respected and known association of the oron people(akapkip Oro)

�12. Ibaka deep seaport or Ibom deep seaport is located in Oron.

�13. The Akwa ibom Airport is situated in Okobo L.G.A, in Oron Nation.

�14. A lot of people think Oron Nation is very wild and Dangerous, that they love fighting and causing problems, but that's a fat lie, Oro people are very peaceful and friendly, but if you look for our trouble, we will retaliates.

�15. Other tribes in Nigeria think that Oron Nation love sex too much(Oron ema mfang), but the truth is,
❤every tribes loves sex, but Oron people are very Romantic, Lovely, Funny and Good in bed, they always try to satisfy their women. Oro people are good husband materials in Nigeria. If you marry Oron man, good sex will never be your problem again. There are Prostitutes or Ashawo everywhere, in case you want to judge Oron Nation.

�16. Oron Nation are 96% Christians, 4% Oro religion.
