The Amanyanabo of Opu-Nembe kingdom in Nembe Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, King Biobelemoye Josiah, on Thursday, rejected food items presented to him by the management of Aiteo Eastern Exploration and Production Company.

The food items which were presented to the monarch during the Christmas season were returned to the company after it failed to provide a power-generating set for the community.

It was gathered that Aiteo had promised to provide a power-generating set for the community some time ago.

Describing the gift as an embarrassment to the traditional institution, King Josiah stated that the gift is a clear demonstration of the company’s crass insensitivity to the traditional stool of a community hosting them.

Engr. Ayerite Moses, youth president of Opu-Nembe Kingdom, who took the food items to the company’s office in Port Harcourt, Rivers State on behalf of King Josiah, revealed that he is a contented man who will never be cowed by any Greek gift from Aiteo.

He opined that the community needs infrastructural development ranging from, electricity, water, roads, and employment for the teeming unemployed youths.

Moses warned that if the concerns raised by the king are not properly handled, it could affect the ‎cordial relationship between the company and the community.
