Ex Governor convicted and faces 10 to 15yrs term. Our courts here in Nigeria should start convicting these government officials if Goodluck Jonathan is serious with corruption. You should not pay lips service to corruption. ONLY conviction of people in government can send the right signal to the youths that corruption is bad and deadly to the Nation.

EFCC and the courts should convict these government officials to get things right. The judiciary is not doing enough at all. The judicial system in Nigeria is full of biased individuals as they are not helping EFCC to get things right. I advocate for special courts to try corrupt government officials. Because the two arms of government The national Assembly and House of Representatives are full of corrupt individuals, they tend to go against the trial of their colleagues. Why can’t these two arms declare the take home pay? What is their job got to do with sharing money and going home with such amount of money? Why cant the money given to them be directly be used by the federal government to build factories to the constituencies where these people come from? Why must these individuals collect such amount of money to their individual pockets when the poverty level in Nigeria is high? I keep asking why? Why can’t the President stop this jumbo pay? Why? Youths getting involved in crime, while our government officials flaunt their wealth for all to see and nothing happens while youths go about looking for jobs?
Other countries are getting it right by sending corrupt government officials to long term prison to send the right signals to the younger generation that you must be clean to take up a leadership position in the society. Here in Nigeria, we worship corrupt individuals to send the wrong signal to the younger generation.

Must our courts free, government individuals? Must our courts give someone who stole billions low jail term of six months with plea bargain? Is that the best way to preach corruption? I heard some youths discussing that if he can get into government and steal billions, then be given 3 yrs, he will go to prison and relax for the 3 yrs and come out to enjoy his money. If they gave a bank manager who stole billions, 6 months prison term on a hospital bed, then he will steal what has never been stolen before and enter plea bargain. Now can we see the danger in our attitude and that of the judiciary who supposed to get things right?

Please fellow Nairaland, is our government getting things right on corruption?
