Yves Saint Laurent, the great fashion designer, once said, "fashions fade, but style endures." Certain trends in copywriting and digital marketing come and go; in the 2010s, it was all about stuffing as many keywords into a document as possible, human reader be damned.

That is now frowned upon, thanks to refinements in PageRank, Google's search engine results page algorithm (and rightly so.)

As technology evolves, so does demand. With that in mind, what are the top copywriting trends for 2022?

As voice becomes the dominant way of searching for content, tailoring content to natural spoken language search rather than simple keyword search will become more common. That is, "best bakery Melbourne" will be pronounced, "OK Google, what is the best-rated bakery in Melbourne?"

AI copywriting assist
Yes, the robots are gaining control. AI is assisting us with almost everything, including copywriting. TechRadar's list of the best AI copywriting assistants doesn't necessarily imply that I'll become extinct - AI is only as good as the algorithms it contains, the data it's fed, and the "awareness" it has.
