Atleast Russia have taken their stance on Ukraine not joining EU off the table... All the separatists they've been sponsoring in the Dunbas and Luhansk Region including annexing Crimea was to make sure Ukraine doesn't qualify to join NATO. Ukraine was recognized as a NATO partner in 2020, NOT member. Many keyboard analysts do not know Russia was also a NATO partner up until they were suspended for annexing Crimea in 2014.
