Sometimes I think Putin's restraint is a political trap to win his allies(China, India, probably Brazil and South Africa) and sow divisions within Europe, which is finally happening. While the real territorial gain in Ukraine has been too slow, Russia's increased influence on the global stage is not in doubt. Look what's happening in Mali and Burkina Faso. Seems Germany is also gradually becoming anti-American which will be a big win. In the end it will be a sweeter victory to isolate America politically. I still think it's wishful thinking and at some point his patience will be exhausted but at least both Russians and other would understand he has tried his best.

I don't think the plan is to "isolate" America. It's a containment policy.

It's fair to think it is wishful thinking, but the attempt holds merit.

At the end of the day, the Eurasian powers will end this Ukraine conflict brutally: As that will be the only option offered by the US.

If the Ukrops are willing to die and all the US has to do is fire up the printer; why should it let Russia+China get Ukraine without working hard for it?

According to the Executive Order, foreigners who have signed a contract for service in the Russian Armed Forces, other troops or military formations for at least one year, as well as those who are participating (participated) in combat operations in such units for at least six months and who have suffered an injury in the process that resulted in their discharge from military service, are entitled to apply for Russian citizenship under a simplified procedure.

Spouses, children and parents of these persons and close relatives of those who have died in combat are eligible for the simplified procedure for obtaining citizenship.

Door to unlimited conscription of souls across borderlines just opened to Russia. A big new twist. The only limitation now is funds to entice fighters with.

I have read a lot from Putin supporters...with every failed event they blame NATO/us, they'll blame everyone except themselves and Putin.

Putin's failed objectives so far......
-Rapid capture of Kyiv
-elimination of zelensky and its government
- victory march parade of WW2 in Ukraine
- 2weeks, predicted time to finish off Ukraine.
-prevent other countries from joining NATO/EU

So far, Good will always prevail over evil. I have to give it to the Ukrainian, they suffered, died, united in this war with Russia, all the bombs, hypersonic missles, suicide drones etc. could not hold them down, this means they are ready to fight till the lastman to save their country But Putin's ego won't make him surrender or withdraw his troops.

Anyways, it's Putin's turn to play is last wild card(nuclear).

It took you so long to put on your thinking cap. Russia lacks precision weapons and have been improvising. To me, the use of convicts and grandpas is a big red flag all isn't well with 'mother Russia'.

If you know internal Russian politics, you will realize the other tribes are resentful of the Rus ethnic group whom Putin is using as excuse to invade places. I doubt a Chinese man will willingly go and die for a fast car and vodka loving Rus. Xi Jingpin may force them though. All of Russia's neighbours are equally resentful of that major tribe called Rus.

Not painting Russia as saints. They also never claimed to be savior of the world. America claims that award and therefore, the responsibility lies of America to live up to its hype. US had a lot of goodwill after the cold war and they squandered it.
