i use swift 4g but i notice that even if most sites dont load , nairaland loads next is gmail or google ,then comes yahoo can some one explain ?

2) little or no other external objects (css, javascript, etc)
3) NL is probably paying a premium for a dedicated server and guaranteed uptime

I think Nairaland and gmail run on lite-speed web server. I'm not quite sure. Plus the reasons yawatide gave.

The images are the key factor that determines a site load time and since NL has little images its likely it loads faster than others with more graphics and images.

In addition, number of hops from you to NL's webserver (Traceroute, the lesser the better), Load balancing, Webserver's connection speed.

I believe the basic reason is what yawa-ti-de mentioned.
no extra content. pictures can load easily if compressed but all that flash, java script and other client side codes are the reasons many site don't load on time.
Additionally, i believe they are using a good server.

and other sites like nigeria best forum and naijahotjobs take forever ,

ive got rid of many images javascript and like in fact its 230kb now nairaland is about the same and still my webpage is slower and I am on a dedicated server dont know what is wrong

Apart from uptime server, check how SMF script was written, its a light speed script with ability to tolerate flooding, even if you have double of the user at most time it has little or no effect on the site loading. image compression enhanced, so what else again...
