Hi Nairalanders, currently planning on getting my first preferably foreign used and I'm thinking of an SUV because our roads. My budget is 3m - 3.5m.

Amongst the options I'm considering is Hyundai ix35 (don't know if it's even 1st car worthy) but looking though sites like jiji, can't seem to find foreign used.

Thanks in advance.

I'm also considering Acura MDX but I read somewhere on Nairaland that it's expensive to maintain.

I haven't really checked out Santa Fe, is it a better option?

Thanks.

The mdx has more maintenance items than the rx350 of the same year.

However, it is cheaper to buy. So what you save in purchase you out towards maintenance. But it is super reliable though.

9ice have given you a true picture of acura mdx.

Hyundai Santa Fe is also a very reliable car. A colleague of mine has been it for many years . But you have to maintain it with the right engine oil to avoid engine issues. Hyundai engines are very expensive

Hyundai Ticson or KIA Sportage with the 2.0l i4
2007 - 2011 Honda CRV

I do have a nice toks MDX technology for sale should in case you settle for that. Acura MDX entertainment package has more maintenance cost compared to technology especially the shocks

Op for a first time suv owner, you need something very reliable and easy to maintain.
You can never go wrong with highlander 06/07 (i4 or v6) 0r 2007 to 2011 honda crv or Toyota rav4 preferably from 09 to 2011 (i4).
You will thank me later in u go for any of those options(buy a grade 1 toks with verified history check, buy a diagnostic tool and get a very competent automobile engineer/mechanic).
