RETURN OF MISSION SCHOOLS; A PASSIONATE APPEAL TO GOV AKEREDOLU

I will forever admire and celebrate Gov Akeredolu's frugality, fairness, courage and candour. May God promote him to higher capacities for human services.

The Gov recently returned two schools to the Catholic Church and the Muslims in Ondo State obediently remained mum. But his latest moves to relinquish all other church-tagged schools to the Christians have naturally elicited trepidations.

Aren't the Jews, Xtians and Muslims worried alike over unprecedented levels of indecent dressings in our contemporary societies? Aren't Hijab-wearing Muslim girls emulating our Mother Mary and pious catholic nuns in modesty and submission to God? Was a Muslim not brutally killed by Xtians, few weeks back, over the refusal of Muslim girls to revert to undignifying dressing, in a govt-funded school in Kwara State?

Most Xtian mission schools in Yoruba land today, though largely championed by Xtians, were actually funded and communally built by the communities; the greatest percentage of whom were Muslims then! This is why several Muslim dominated communities exist today wherein the only govt school carries church nomenclature.

We Muslims have all cause to be afraid. Did Nigerian Xtians not vehemently resist Bible/Quran-ordained Interest-Free-Banking? What of interest-free Islamic nations' loan (SUKUK) -even as IMF & World Bank have extorted beyond $25b on an original loan of $5b that Nigeria borrowed from them? Are Xtian administrators not de-studenting hijab wearing Muslim sisters in federal and states wholly-owned universities? Aren't Xtian teachers and lecturers fixing crucial examinations between 12 and 3pm on Fridays -the period statutorily allocated for Jumat Services?

In the Middle-Belt and South West Nigeria, whichever state has a Muslim majority, the Governor/Dep Gov would always be Muslim/Xtian or Xtian/Muslim. Go check out Kwara, Kogi, Nasarawa, Lagos, Oyo, Ogun, Osun etc. But where Xtians have the slightest of majority, Xtianity perpetually takes all! Plateau, Benue, Ekiti and Ondo states are proving me true. There even was once an Oyinlola/Obada Xtian/Xtian government in Muslim-saturated Osun state. Governor Fayose appointed 13 (or 16?) commissioners in Ekiti State, all Xtians, with zero Muslim! In our Ondo State the incumbent Governor, Dep Gov, Speaker, Dep Speaker, Chf Justice, SSG, C.o.S, First Lady - all are Xtians! Yet Muslims didnt get up to 1/4 of commissioners. Muslim brothers are denied promotions in the Civil Service because they dared grow their beards as Jesus'. Muslim leaders, very intelligent but inflexibly God-conscious, would yet thank Govt "for fostering religious peace in the Sunshine State".

This is because the Almighty has amply fore-warned us Muslims that we are on life-long, extreme trials in this world. And Prophet Muhammad (SAW) was more forthcoming: "This World is a Prison to the Muslims but Paradise for the Idolators & Polytheists; the HereAfter is Paradise for Muslims but Hell for Idolators & Polytheists". This is the reason we don't compromise on the dictates of our Faith; even in the face of poverty, pain and death.

The world should be reminded that the very first University on this planet, All-Qarawinyyin University in Morocco, was founded in the year 859AD by a Muslim woman, Fatima Bint Muhammad Al-Fhriya. Maths, Physics, Chemistry etc are not Western Knowledge but Secular Knowledge. Prophet Muhammad (SAW) also said: "Knowledge is the birth right of all Muslims, he must pursue it even as far as to China."

Muslims in Nigeria are already educationally, politically and economically disadvantaged. The Christians, if they truly are mirroring Christ, should therefore fear God who creates and cherishes all, and desist from further dehumanizing Muslims.

I hereby most humbly plead with Gov Rotimi Akeredolu, a man much favoured by God, not to hand over any other Govt-funded school to Churches.

But the schools were built and maintained by same churches until Government took it over. Would this not be a better solution to the hijab crisis bedeviling states that has been causing crisis?.

All public schools are not missionary schools, the numbers that's are not are much more than those that are. Same Govt maintained them across board, so we can say the standard is same across board before that of the missionaries are excluded.

You are a pathetic liar for saying most of these schools were communally funded. That is far from the truth and I challenge you to bring your 'most' proof or keep shut forever. Schools built by churches were from the sweat of the Church's congregation. I don't think you know how many fundraising activities we do year in year out to maintain the schools the government said were grant aided but haven't built a structure in it since 1974. I come from a state where this issue is at its peak & the C$S College in Ilorin has been funded by the church since way back. The hostels built by the church, renovations done by the church and many other things. Government merely pay salaries & even at that, they refused to employ CRS teacher thereby denying our kids the moral education in our ways yet you will find at least 2-3 dirty bearded Alfas in the school taking the students Islamic subjects.

The other things you raised about Muslims being subjugated is nothing but trash, Christians just want to be left alone and do their thing yet you keep whining. You morons were the instigator of the bad blood they has been building up for years in our communities. When Reinhard Bonnke came for a crusade program about 30 years ago, your bloodthirsty dirtbags went haywire disturbing the peace from Osun, to Ilorin to Kano, we were forced to shutdown nearly all of the programs and the clergyman cut short his stay. I could recall vividly walking all the way from Coca-Cola road in Ilorin to Budo Efo just to attend a Crusade just because Muslim fanatics prayed on the government to not allow the event hold within Ilorin metropolis. Late Dr Ali Kolade of the Teblik movement in Ilorin then was event violent in his resistance of anything Christian but unfortunately he died as a result of a car crash which his members blamed Christians prayers for. So it is such Islamists you want Christian's tolerance from? You poked fingers in our eyes many decades ago & we just grew into not wanting to associate or have anything to do with you. Deal with it.

Sad to see our people falling apart due to tribal and religious influences. I'm happy to have grown up at a time when neither tribe nor religion mattered in our relationships.

Many Community Grammar Schools of that era were jointly built by Muslims, Christians and other faiths. Although some were supported by Christian missionaries especially with regards to teaching and administration, no faith can rightly claim those schools. The missionary schools were distinct as they were named after the Churches in the environment. Muslim schools also bore names associated with their faith.

It is therefore easy to determine who owned what. A Community school can not be handed over to a Muslim or Christian organisation.

By the way, Lagos State was able to do this years ago without any issues. Even private schools of the past were returned to willing owners. LASG went ahead to improve on public schools so that all could have equal access to good education.

Lol your plight is very pathetic. You write up implies you guys are incapable of building educational institutions without the government. Theres nothing stopping anyone anyone from starting a private school. 2nd government can still build and operate their own secular schools.

I already made a whole thread on the hijab issue with 3 solutions. The issue boils down to property rights vs religious freedom. I personally think its best for the state to remain secular and not fund, maintain or own religious schools.

Blue3k:

Option 1. Oyun Baptist High School rejects any state funding along with conditions attached with the funds. Ban the hijab and ask students who won't want to obey the rule to transfer.

Option 2. If Oyun Baptist High School thinks the state is infringeding on their agreement and religious freedom they should go to court. The court has to figure out which party is in charge of administrative duties.

Option 3. Allow students to wear hijab and move on. Assuming the school is state owned like Kwara state claims they have to. State school follow state laws and regulations

Most Xtian mission schools in Yoruba land today, though largely championed by Xtians, were actually funded and communally built by the communities; the greatest percentage of whom were Muslims then!
Mission schools are founded and funded by the Church, not community.
Communally-funded schools are named community school or after a neutral name.
When you see a school named St. Aquinas, it is definitely not founded by the community.

This is why several Muslim dominated communities exist today wherein the only govt school carries church nomenclature.
Another lie.
This schools exist because the government of Gowon took over privately-held church owned school.
Those schools in Muslim-dominated communities were founded for evangelism by various missions.

If there is any inkling of truth in what you say, many muslim parents and grand-parents would not have resisted
sending their kids to a school they allegedly equally contributed to.
We can see the effect of their rejection of education today.

Africans with stupid obsessions.
The same religion that has been abandoned for common sense by its founders.
China does not follow any of the two rival religions, and they are progressing.
However, the catholic schools are founded by missionaries.
If the Muslims keep crying foul, what about traditional believers.

The writer is already contradicting himself by extracting the common values and norms that are common in Islam and Christianity from both Holy Books but have been rejected by these States and Governments because of Secularism.

Secularism isn't Christianity or Islam. You may argue it is nearer to one or farther to the other but the difference between them is clear.
