COURT OF APPEAL STAFF, AWKA DIVISION THROWN OUT OF STAFF QUARTERS, LAMENTS OVER EXPIRATION OF RENT - Prays Incoming Governor Soludo Helps Them.

The Staff of Court of Appeal Awka Division have been thrown into a state of helplessness as their staff quarters rent is said to have expired.

The staff complained bitterly that they have no money to afford the high cost of housing in Awka and no where to go as the call for eviction is impromptu and most of the staff who were transferred from their various former divisions to the new Awka Division are not indigens of Anambra State and this will affect their judicial duties.

Report has it that the owner (landlord) of the building occupied by Court of Appeal staff, Awka Division, have for a while before now given the State's Attorney General a quit notice to serve the management and staff of the Division, who also claimed to have served them the quit notice, but in the actual sense she (the Attorney General) did not and haven't brought anything of such to the attention of the management and staff of Court of Appeal Awka Division even up till now. As a matter of fact, the Deputy Chief Registrar was said to have spoken with her on phone demanding a documented copy of the payment agreement and quit notice, but to no avail as the AG has shown less concern, so the news of eviction came as a shock to the management and staff of the division.

Recall that Court of Appeal, Awka Division is a new division (barely 2 years old) inaugurated on the 5th of February, 2020 by the erstwhile President of Court of Appeal, Hon. Justice Adamu Bulkachuwa, in the presence of outgoing Gov. Willie Obiano of Anambra State and other dignitaries (mostly judicial staff), with a whole lot of invited guests.

It was gathered that the administration of Gov. Willie Obiano provided a staff quarters and paid for 2 years of rent/stay, but the rent seems to have expired at a time when things are very difficult and the country's economy is facing serious hardship, coupled with the fact that accommodation in Awka is very expensive and not that affordable.

It is on this note that Court of Appeal, Awka Division calls on the administration led by Governor Chukwuma Soludo and the President of Court of Appeal to hear their humble cry and renew their Staff Quarters rent, even if it is for one more year as to enable them gather some money to pay rent subsequently.
