ln this era of Boko haram and armed robbery, l hope the harsh punishment to this officer will not push him to join any of the above ?

Things have got worse for Sunday Ayodeji, 32, the Lance Corporal dismissed from the Army on Monday for violating traffic rules and instigating a clash between soldiers and policemen in Obanikoro, Lagos.

The State Government arraigned him at the Ikeja Magistrate Court on Wednesday on a five-count charge.

He could go to jail if found guilty.

He was handcuffed and brought to court in a Hilux van marked LAGOS CE 995 FST belonging to the Lagos State Taskforce on Environ mental and Other Special Offences.

The charge sheet, read out by the prosecutor, Solicitor General Lawal Pedro, alleged that Ayodeji:

• On June 23 at about 8:30 a.m. on Ikorodu Road, Obanikoro, Lagos while driving a Mercedes benz V-Boot marked LAGOS IK 507 EKY unlawfully assaulted one Utos Jirhevwe, a driver, attached to the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation and Special Offences Unit and caused him serious harm on the head with iron chain and spanner, an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 355 of the state Criminal Code.
