African University of Science and Technology, A foremost Pan African University establised in 2007 in the heart of Abuja which currently offers Masters and Doctorates degree program is on the verge of securing the nod of Nigerian Universities Commission to commence undergraduate programs.



Professor Peter Azikiwe Onwualu, The President of African University of Science and Technology Abuja made this known when he received the duo of Chief Ekene Ebuzeme, The Founder, Alparon Development and Humanitarian Initiative and Amb Timothy Nwachukwu, The CEO of StandOut Africa Media and Consultancy Services and TA on Media and Communication, Office of the Special Assistant to the President of Nigeria who paid him a courtesy visit in his office in Abuja.





Prof. Onwualu revealed that African University of Science and Technology currently have over 13 programmes in the sciences –mathematics, physics, space physics, computing (computer science and management of information technology), engineering (systems engineering, aerospace engineering, petroleum engineering, material science and engineering), geo-informatics and geographic information systems (GIS).



He added that the Pan African Institution which has over ten International students from different countries of Africa have began management sciences to support the science and engineering programmes. He highlighted that the management courses include economics, public policy, public administration and accounting.



The duo of Chief Ekene Ebuzeme and Amb Timothy Nwachukwu who visited the President of the foremost Pan African University discussed areas of mutual interest and colloboration with the president of the Institutions with a firm promise and proactive plan to partner with the University.



The erudite professor of International repute reiterated that the university was established as a response to a request from several African Heads of State, to give life to a request made by then President Nelson Mandela of South Africa, that the World Bank and the African Union work together to create strong Pan-African centres of excellence to improve sub-Saharan Africa’s capacity in Science and Technology.


Thus, a network of the now Nelson Mandela African Institutes of Science and Technology (NM-AISTs) was born and African University of Science and technology (AUST) in Abuja was the first of these Centers of Excellence to be established. It currently only offers Graduate level programs by a combination of course work and cutting edge research.
