Comrade Edward Asikitams, Chairman of IYC Kalabari Se-ikpangi,[sup][/sup] today in the spirit of solidarity joined members of Council to pay last respect to a fearless and articulate freedom fighter, Comrade Mienye Cookeye Brown of blessed memory.

The Opobo illustrious son, General Afati as he was fondly called was until death the National Leader, Ijaw Defence Council (IDC) Worldwide.

The Chairman of IYC Kalabari Se-ikpangi on behalf of Council while sympathising with the deceased immediate and extended families, and the entire Ibani Opobo Clan further described his death as a colossal loss to Ijaw Nation-cum-Niger Delta.

May the soul of the departed gallant soldier continue to rest in peace...
