Ukraine didn't fight for independent during the collapse of USSR, it was given to one of the loyalists to Crimea who fought in support of USSR. The generosity of given the old Ukraine to the the leader wasn't a consensus agreement..

Did SU not invade Afghanistan? Did Iraq not Kuwait? Civil war is still going on in Syria. Has Russia presence stopped civil war in syria.

Russia cannot be claiming to fight for Russian speakers in another sovereign country. Putin could have used political mean to get it done. He wants quick action because polutcal means may take deades to materialise.

I hope you are enjoying truth from eastern media. Ukraine was a republic under Soviet union. In fact, it was because Russian revolutionary army defeated Ukraine republic army that made Ukraine a part of SU.
Russia did not colonize African nations because she did not have opportunity to do so. Russia russified small tribes and ethnic groups in Russian empire, SU and Russia. Google Russification.
If Ukraine did not handover her nuclear arsenals to Russia in 1993/4 do you think this mess will happen?
