Governor Udom Emmanuel has called for partnership with Churches to assist government in stemming the rate of cult related activities among youths in the State.

Governor Emmanuel made the call on Sunday, during a courtesy visit on him by Redeemed Christian Church of God pastors led by Pastor Idris Enoch in charge of Region 14, at Government House, Uyo.

The governor who lamented the level of moral decadence among youths, said the trend of cult activities in secondary schools could be reduced with the assistance of the leadership of the Church through preaching God's word and instilling Godly morals and values to youths.

The Chief Executive further noted that most crime related activities in the state are connected to cult activities which has ravaged the secondary schools, frowned at persons recruiting youths into the fruitless venture.

" I need the Church to help me on this war against cultism, if we don't do something now, if we don't arise to it now it's going to cause a problem. You can't believe that this week an SS3 student used knife and stabbed an SS2 student because they are in rival cult groups in a secondary school, and how did he go to school with a knife used it to stab another student?"

"Unfortunately for us, we are running free and compulsory education, so these ones perpetuating nefarious activities don't mine sewing a uniform as if they are joining secondary schools, actually they are on evangelism initiating other students.

"If you check every single problem and social vices I am having here stems out of cultism, if you arrest armed robbers one hundred percent of them are of different cult groups, get any of them they are attached to different cult groups.

"I often say if the indoctrination you are giving to these young men ends in violence, killings, in crime, in shedding of blood so you have to think that what you are doing is not right."

Governor Emmanuel, however, appreciated the partnership between the leadership of the Church and government, and welcomed Pastor Idris Enoch of Redeemed Christian Church of God ( RCCG) in charge of Region 14, to the State.

In his remarks, the Pastor Idris Enoch, in charge of Region 14, thanked Governor Udom Emmanuel for a warm reception accorded the team.

Pastor Enoch, commended Governor Emmanuel for the relative peace and security in the state which he emphasized is the bedrock of development and the landmark achievements recorded by the present administration.

"Since we came we have studied situation on ground and our record shows that since you became the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, there has been relative peace and security.

"I want to thank God for your life, if there is anything a nation needs is security of lives and property . This atmosphere explains some of the landmark development you are seeing on ground today in the state. We have also observed that very unusual and uncommonly, your administration has fully brought God into governance which has helped in security", he noted

Family is the foundation of society. If you like send your child to havard, it must reflect in the child's life if you are a rotten parent. Infact, it will only make the child a sophisticated bad child.
the silence of the church over the decline in family values and the laziness of parents and all the rubbish parents allow under their roof these days is just overwhelming.
If you enter a church and gather 100 teenagers you will find scammers, street cult kids, hookup girls, fake life victims, druggies, abortion candidates, and the rest that do not belong to these groups already are already feeling the pressure to FEEL AMONG but guess what? Their parents are inside the church screaming GO PASTOR, YES PASTOR while the pastor will never ever tell them the truth of how they have ruined their kid's lives.
-Parents taking 100k from the son who is in SS2 and telling him GOD BLESS YOU.
-Your daughter is not at home for days and she keeps calling you telling you she's in her friends house but You don't care because that means you don't have to worry about making breakfast for her. She comes back by 11pm and you wake up to open door for her because she will give you 3k.
-your daughter is in a school you are sure didn't pay the school fees. How come? Yet you are calling her to remind her there is no food at home she should send money.
-you are not interested in knowing who your son's friends are. You see them and ask no questions at all. Robbery, fraud, cultism, drugs is happening right in front of you and you don't care because you have sold your birthright of parenthood.
-In 2012 i knew a pastor he comes to do street evangelism but nobody takes him serious because they all know his son was a fraudster and it was his son that bought the suit, shoes and the very car he is using to preach on the street. Preach to who abeg?
-shame will never allow many men and women to enter church again if the church actually questions the families and how they raise their kids. But who cares? Please pay your tithe and offerings and go back home with your wahala let God handle your matter if he has your time.

It's an average NIGERIAN mentality. They always think about their survival and don't care what happens to others. The church only care about their survival and the Gospel but don't care about those they are preaching it to.

Nigerians are the most self Centered people you can imagine, that's why you still see people scamming fellow Nigerians who you know are trying to survive like you. Imagine some idiots scamming Jambites and other form of scams. That's also the reason you have people like Mannabbqgrill and Freestuffsng supporting APC even when they know how much hardship and death it has brought upon Nigerians. Self, self and self is what Nigerians think about.

When most churches are covert cult groups themselves, how can they partner to stop what they are practicing

We need good laws and policies with a functional and thriving economy to curb such vices and not religion. This is what most societies in saner climes is built on

That's true. Only that most the yahoo boys don't attend churches anymore.

It is also good to team up with club and hotel owners too.

This (cultism) is what we get, when charity fails at home.

He'd better sponsor a serious campaign against cultism. The church have always existed and they won't want to lose members so, they can do nothing.

The only way to stop cultism in Nigeria is to register them as a body jus like SeaDogs...knowing their executives at all levels will make them sit tight and those that failed to register should be proscribed as a terrorist organization...if any member of a registered cult group fight somewhere the executives will flush out the culprits because they have the list of their members and by so doing they will have a constitution guiding such groups...in fact they won't dare fight or cause unrests with each other simply because they are a registered organization...the best way is to make them register their various groups...
