Commissioner for Women’s Affairs in Anambra, Mezue, takes action to save a woman who has been abused in Aguleri.


Following the viral video of Mrs Ajuese Obiora of Eziagulu-Otu, Aguleri, Anambra East Council Area, who was accused of adultery, which was alleged to be the reason of her husband’s death, the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Lady Ndidi Mezue, has paid her a visit to seek justice.

For the death of their brother, Mr Obiora, also known as Okeosisi Aguleri, the woman accused of having extramarital affairs was tortured and stripped naked by her in-laws.

She was also made to take an oath in front of their god.


Addressing the woman’s family, the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Lady Ndidi Mezue, who was sent to the mission by the Minister of Women Affairs and the wife of the state governor, Dr Ebelechukwu Obiano, frowned at the heinous act of molestation perpetrated on the woman, noting that the days of people making decisions on their own are long gone, and condemned the evil act.

Mrs Obiora should not lose faith, she said, since justice must prevail and the perpetrators of the act must be brought to court.

Igwe Micheal Idigo, the traditional ruler of Aguleri, condemned the conduct, saying that it is not in their culture to molest any human being, while also promising that his cabinet members and the community’s ruling council are gathering to discuss how to guarantee peace and justice prevail.

Mrs Vivian Iwuno, the Woman President Generals of Enugwu Otu Aguleri, stated that because the government intervened through the ministry of women’s affairs, justice would prevail, noting that stripping a woman naked was always wrong.
