DON'T FORSAKE HER
A Letter to my Brother in diaspora by Whiteheartbit
The world you see a future in
Never saw a future in you
The land you run to seek for butter and honey
Never lend you a hand when you needed it
She took of your honey and gave a bee to sting
She took of your butter and gave you a fire to quench

She watched her own burned before her eyes for your sake
She will watch you burn before your eyes for her sake
Times and seasons has past the wounds remain on healed
Yet you find solace in her for the wound she watched you bear

Cry no more to her
Call no more to her
Run no more to her
Hope no more in her

Come my own, come my blood, come my brother
Our house, our own father house is in ruin
My heart bleeds that in her you labour and build for her rest
Yet your own, your blood, your brother is in pain

Posterity will speak of her cruelty towards your father house
Soon the veil with which she hid behind will burn with her own cruel did
Soon her ship of merchant with which she loot from our treasury will sink
See, my own, my brother, see what she has done
There be no more milk in the breast for our young to drink
Our strength is drained from us that our women find no pleasure in us

Come now my own, my brother
Let us build, let us build with that which is left
Let our breast be full again
Let our young drink and be full
Let our women be satisfied with our great strength

Come now my own, my brother let us build
Let our streets lighting up again
Let our virgins be bold again
Let our doors be opened again to our brothers
Let the flute of our father be blown again with pride
Let the square be filled again with dancing
Come home my brother, don't forsake her.
