S500 is mainly for intercepting ICBMs and taking down satellites from orbits while S400 plays a different role, taking down fast moving stealth jets, bombers and AWACS from the sky within the range of 400km. It could also intercept ICBMs too.

Are you talking of the S550 variant of the S500?

S500 is a new system so there's limited info about it for now and the S550 was test launched last December (3months ago)
