The Russians dropped a huge ball in this operation, they even disappointed their greatest foe (America) with the way they have conducted themselves in this military operation. They have lost both men, hardware, and most of all, their prestige. Their fear factor is only the nukes they possess, nothing more, nothing less. I do not think the Americans, worse still, the Chinese can ever see them again as a mighty foe or power, they have bn downgraded to the level of the middle powers. But inspite of this, they still held their ground and pounded the ragtags so much that all they could do every once in a while is a sneak attack when least expected. Compared to the Iraq invasion where they face the Iraqi regular military, and these were neutralised within 1 month and some days. And the lessons learnt in the Afghan war were improved upon in the urban war fighting skills. But this embarrassment Russia is calling a special military operation is nothing but an eyesore for a great power.
